✨EBAN is proud to share with you the “Women in Deep Tech and Investment” panel powered by Women TechEU that took place during #EAIS24. Passionate speakers: Brigitte Baumann Gervais, Founder of efino, Clare McGee, Founder of AwakenHub & AwakenAngels and partner at Women TechEU, Svenja Lassen, Country Managing Director at Gateway Ventures and moderator Christine Bjärkby, Founder and Board Member at SweBAN - Swedish Business Angel Networks, all shared crucial insights and points of view regarding the current state of diversification in the DeepTech sector. One prominent point that was brought to discussion was the large disparity in venture funding allocation provided to women entrepreneurs and women-led startups, amounting to a substandard 3% of total venture capital. The panellists sought to look at this issue from both points of view and concluded that while women might have a tendency to avoid high risk ventures, their approach to investment decisions prioritizes sustainability and social impact before profit, aligning investment portfolios with long term societal benefits and long-term stability. 🏛️ Women TechEU takes a leading position in tackling this issue by offering grant funding and mentorship tailored specifically for women-led tech ventures. A program that as shared by Clare McGee, has received very positive feedback with over 800 submitted applications in its initial two rounds. The initiative provides 75k of grant free funding plus a 6-month acceleration programme.
