We're coming to the end of a busy week for cohort 24 of the CIFD programme. It has been a really thought provoking week, with hugely valuable experience shared by our participants in the classroom. A huge thank you to all of the fabulous faculty and IOB team for all their work this week. And a special thank you to Terri Dempsey who joined us at the drinks reception and shared some of her experiences from both sides of the board table. And a final thank you to the participants on the programme, your involvement, enthusiasm and insights have made for a very special week. Wishing everyone safe travels back to the many corners of the world you came from to join us.

About us
Established in June 2015, the CIFD Institute is a global not-for-profit community of investment fund directors. Through its specialist focus and membership, the CIFD Institute has the following key objectives: a) to raise professional standards in investment fund governance internationally and in doing so safeguard the interests of investors b) to develop and support investment fund directors in the execution of their roles as such c) to be thought leaders in the area of investment fund governance. Members of the CIFD Institute comprise professionals who have successfully completed the CIFD Programme and, thus, have been awarded the professional designation of Certified Investment Fund Director by the CIFD Institute. The CIFD Institute will seek to achieve its objectives: a) by managing and co-ordinating the delivery of the CIFD Programme in a number of key locations, by awarding the professional designation Certified Investment Fund Director and by the operation of the continuing professional development required to retain that designation; and b) by providing a community and a forum in which Certified Investment Fund Directors can network and leverage off each other’s experience, thereby developing in the execution of their roles.

It's great to be back again at the annual CIFD conference 2024, live and in living colour. Thanks to Michael J. McGrath for his words on the robustness of the financial services & funds industry and to Darragh Rossi for a regulatory update from the Central Bank of Ireland; interesting to hear the CBI's increased focus on data-lead supervision with recent levels of activity in the Irish market of 800 funds and 2000 PCF positions being approved in 2023.
