Engaging Your Team in Climate Action: 3 Steps to Get Started Creating a culture of environmental responsibility starts with engaging your team. Here are three effective strategies: 👉 Build a Dedicated Climate Action Team Establishing a cross-departmental team to lead climate initiatives creates accountability and ensures diverse perspectives. Defining clear roles and setting measurable goals, like reducing energy use or increasing recycling, keeps the team motivated and aligned. 👉 Offer Focused Training Equip your employees with practical knowledge on topics like energy efficiency and waste reduction. Bringing in external experts and using interactive formats like workshops can enhance learning and engagement across all levels of your organization. 👉 Recognize and Reward Positive Actions Implement a recognition program to celebrate eco-friendly behaviors. Publicly acknowledging employee contributions fosters community spirit and encourages wider participation in climate efforts. By empowering your team, you build a foundation for collective action and long-term success.

We are quite busy here at Climeaction with events this month as we attended the launch of the new Business Engagement Unit and portal at University College Cork last night. This initiative, developed in collaboration with 22 university leaders over the past year, creates a vital connection between industry and academia. The Business Engagement Portal offers a pathway for companies to access student talent, engage in skills development, and collaborate on innovative research. It’s a significant step toward bridging the gap between education and industry needs, and we’re excited about the opportunities this presents for partnerships. We also appreciated the focus on climate action and the importance of building connections within the community. A special thank you to all the individuals involved in making this project a reality, including President John O'Halloran for his opening address where he noted that every euro invested in UCC has a return of 6 euro, which is absolutely incredible. Looking forward to exploring how this platform can enhance our climate action efforts and support emerging talent. #BusinessEngagement #Climateaction #Collaboration #UCC

Climeaction was in attendance this morning for the "Sustainable for Success" Business Breakfast, presented in association with Bank of Ireland as part of Climate Action Week in Carlow. The event provided valuable insights into how Climate Action can drive business success. We heard from an impressive line-up of speakers, including Coilin O'Reilly aine byrne, Sarah Byrne and Stephen Trant. We were very impressed with Colette Shirley, Sustainability Director for Corporate and Commercial Banking at Bank of Ireland, who discussed the benefits of integrating climate action into business practices. Michael Carty shared his expertise on investment payback, while Séamus Doran from Carlow County Council highlighted financial supports available for green initiatives. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and gather insights on the best approach to taking climate action, and it's great to see so many businesses showing interest in making a change to how they operate. Thanks to Carlow County Council for putting on this event, and well done to all involved. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #BusinessDevelopment #Climeaction

Here is some pics from our attendance at the Cork Digital Marketing Awards on Friday night at the Oriel House Hotel . While we didn't win in our category, being a finalist was nothing short of a valuable experience. A huge congratulations to Dassault Systèmes for their win in the "Best Use of Digital Marketing for Sustainable Impact." Their approach in this area shows the importance of integrating responsible practices into digital strategies and was truly inspiring. As the life sciences sector faces evolving ESG challenges, 2024 is shaping up to be a crucial year. At Climeaction, we recognize the urgent need for biopharma companies to proactively adapt to new regulations and integrate responsible business practices that promote long-term resilience and growth. We are proud to sponsor this year’s #ESGinLifeSciencesSummit, a unique platform for connecting with industry leaders and exploring strategies to address the increasing regulatory and sustainability demands facing biopharma. Our CEO, Paul Murphy, and Corporate Reporting Lead, Naomi Barker, will present at the event tomorrow, October 11 at 10:20 AM. This is a great article from the World Economic Forum which highlights something we’ve been advocating at Climeaction from the beginning: taking bold climate action is not just a necessity, it’s also great for business. A collaboration of 131 companies—bringing together US$4 trillion in revenue across 12 industries and 27 countries—has shown that we can make a real difference. Between 2019 and 2022, these companies managed to cut their emissions by 10%, which is roughly equivalent to the annual emissions of France. At the same time, they saw their revenues grow by 18%, outpacing global GDP growth. This is powerful evidence that strong climate policies are essential, not only for addressing the climate crisis but also for building stronger economies. When done right, these policies can create more jobs, improve public health, make energy more affordable, and open up exciting opportunities for businesses. It's time to start making business better, together. #ClimateAction #Climeaction #Business #BusinessGrowth #WEF #WorldEconomicForum
Bold climate action is good for business. New data from an alliance of 131 companies — with a combined revenue of US$4 trillion across 12 industries and 27 countries — shows it's not only possible to achieve the emissions cuts the world needs, it's very good for business bottom lines. Between 2019 and 2022, these companies collectively reduced emissions by 10%, equivalent to the annual emissions of France. At the same time, their combined revenue grew by 18%, outperforming global GDP growth. It's yet more evidence that bold climate policies are crucial from all governments not only to stop the climate crisis decimating every economy and global supply chains. Done well, they will also be blue-prints for much stronger economies, unleashing huge benefits - more jobs and growth, better health, more affordable energy, and massive opportunities for businesses. That's why leading businesses are urging governments to set stronger climate policies, as the global race to seize the huge benefits heats up. Read more from the alliance here: https://bit.ly/3XZ9cHR
