Cork Chamber had a productive meeting with Fine Gael Councillors on Cork County Council today. The importance of economic development across the city and county was discussed, as well as key priorities for progress in areas such as housing, infrastructure and renewable energy. We look forward to continued engagement with local representatives across the city and county over the course of this five-year Council term.

Great to represent Cork Chamber members at 2 key events this week with our leading economic and trade partners. Both the #USIrelandEconomicSummit recognising 100 years of diplomatic and economic relations and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce Conference brought together key business, political, civil/public service, education and civic leadership to acknowledge and discuss future trade/business opportunities and collaboration. A theme across both events was the need to ensure we improve on infrastructure delivery if we are to realise the many opportunities that exist in areas such renewable energy and AI as well as the importance of maintaining a focus on talent & skills through investment in in our education sector. Cork Chamber’s pre election manifesto which will be launched shortly addresses these and many other priorities for the #Cork region as we engage with political party’s and election candidates ahead of the pending General election.

🎶 **Networking at Noon: MTU Cork School of Music** 🎶 Had the pleasure of attending the fantastic **Networking at Noon** event organized by Cork Chamber at the Munster Technological University Cork School of Music. A huge shoutout to the entire team for putting together such an engaging and successful gathering!👏 It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new members, catch up with old friends, and connect with dear clients. Highlights included insightful soapbox sessions, captivating storytelling websites, discussions about the Cork International Film Festival , and some stellar public speaking moments. Annie FitzGibbon did a fabulous job as MC, welcoming everyone and sharing the latest activities from the Chamber. Gerard O'Donovan from Munster Technological University captivated us with news about the campus, its facilities, and how MTU is shaping the future of Cork. Yesterday, Ports of Indiana and Port of Cork Company Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen trade, economic and academic cooperation between Indiana and Ireland. Through this new partnership, the two ports commit to exploring the feasibility of a new shipping connection between Cork, Ireland and Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor in northwest Indiana, supporting the port’s new container initiative that will create an international sea cargo container terminal. Cork Chamber were delighted to co-host this MoU signing with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, which was in attendance by the Governor of Indiana, Eric Holcomb. Cork business organisations have welcomed the commitment made by Cabinet yesterday to delivering the Cork Events Centre, but any further undue delays must be avoided. In a joint statement, Cork Chamber, the Cork Business Association, the Cork Branch Irish Hotels Federation, Vintners' Federation of Ireland (VFI) and the Restaurants Association of Ireland expressed their disappointment at the news that the Cork Events Centre is set to face a retendering process, representing yet another setback for the project. Government has however committed to funding and delivering the Cork Events Centre once and for all, which is a welcome step forward. It is vital that this new retendering process is undertaken and completed as a matter of urgency, and that clear timelines are provided for the Events Centre’s final delivery. https://lnkd.in/eTdwFeU7
