Government Administration
Creative Ireland is an all-of-government programme that connects people, creativity and wellbeing.
About us
Creative Ireland connects people, creativity and wellbeing. It is an all-of-government culture and wellbeing programme that inspires and transforms people, places and communities through creativity. We are committed to the vision that every person in Ireland should have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential. Established in 2017, Creative Ireland was born out of Ireland 2016, the hugely successful state initiative to mark the hundredth anniversary of the Easter Rising. The Programme drew inspiration from the extraordinary public response to the Centenary and the thousands of largely culture-based events exploring issues of identity, community, culture, heritage and citizenship. Through partnerships with local and national government, cultural and enterprise agencies and local enterprise, we create pathways and opportunities for people and communities to unlock their creative potential. We believe in the power and creative potential of people, organisations and government departments working together, sharing expertise, to catalyse ideas and action. Through our focus and co-ordination, we will forge an eco-system of creativity. The Programme is built around key themes: Creative Youth, Creative Communities, Creative Health and Wellbeing, Creative Climate Action and Sustainability and Creative Industries.

Trí cheol a nascadh le daoine, is comhpháirtíocht é Tae, Comhrá & Foinn a thugann eispéiris cheoil bheo, shaincheaptha d’áitritheoirí tithe altranais. Ag díriú ar chónaitheoirí a bhfuil néaltrú agus caillteanas céadfach orthu, cuireann an clár seisiúin cheoil duine-lárnach ar fáil a dearadh chun rannpháirtíocht agus ardú meanma a spreagadh. Le tacaíocht ó Éire Ildánach, is comhoibriú é an tionscnamh seo idir Music & Health Ireland, Meath County Council agus Louth County Council, ag tabhairt teaghlaigh níos dlúithe le chéile trí chuimhneacháin cheoil roinnte.

As the new hourly Dublin Connolly to Belfast Grand Central service begins, a trip by ferry to Inishbofin sees women from Ennis, Ballinasloe, Belfast and Inishbofin come together to be part of 'Birds of a Feather' Creative Ireland #SharedIsland initiative. Through their creative experiences, primarily as crafters, they are building friendships and a mutual understanding of living on a Shared Island. Although from diverse backgrounds they have found common ground in skills such as weaving, knitting, felting, and retail training. Look out for their wares on Saturday 16th November at St. George's Market #Belfast Belfast City Council Clare County Council Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Eva Birdthistle Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) The Irish Times

"Creativity is a universal language. It has the ability to quickly bridge gaps and unite us in a shared passion, no matter our background.” Lovely quote from Eva Birdthistle, Creative Ireland’s engagement officer in Clare County Council as part of this The Irish Times feature on 'Birds of a Feather', one of our Creative Ireland supported #SharedIsland projects that brings together groups of women from Ballinasloe, Belfast, Ennis and Inishbofin, with various backgrounds.

Delighted to be able to attend The Gathering at the Aviva Stadium, a Creative Ireland event bringing together partners from the Creative Climate Action Ignite and Spark projects and the learnings from those projects. So inspiring to hear powerful stories of action for Climate and Biodiversity there and great to be able to get some of the team from our Ignite and Spark projects from the Kingdom together: Brilliant Ballybunion, Inspired Ability (The Eco-Makers Workshop) and Neart na Machairí.

Some exciting news! Our project "Sustainable Energy Communities: From Plan To Do" has been shortlisted for the 2024 Institute of Designers in Ireland Awards! There are over 900 Sustainable Energy Communities (SECs) in Ireland, mostly volunteer led, working to #decarbonise neighbourhoods, businesses, and community facilities. ‘From Plan to Do’ has engaged SEC’s nationally using a service design approach, to deeply understand challenges to their work, and to #codesign and #prototype actions toward a #lowcarbon future. Led by Context Studio, and supported by Dublin City Council, Zero Carbon and CODEMA, this project partners with Connecting Cabra #SEC, but also involves other SECs from across Ireland.
