CUH Charity - Saving and Changing Lives

About us

Established in 2012, CUH (Cork University Hospital) Charity is the nominated charity of Cork University Hospital (CUH) and Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH). We work closely with the management team and healthcare experts at CUH and CUMH to identify the hospital’s most pressing needs and provide financial support for all departments. CUH Charity identifies a selection of focused appeals that require our assistance. We offer a wide range of opportunities for people to donate to these vital causes through organising and supporting fundraising events. Our work is very much a team effort, from the charity representatives to our wonderful volunteers and hospital staff. We encourage community involvement by offering opportunities for the workplace and school fundraising, along with a wide range of other ways to give.

You can't stop Kannan Natchimuthu. 🏃🎾 The CUMH Occupational Therapist has been going above and beyond this year. On top of doing his best to help everyone who comes to CUMH, Kannan has fundraised to improve services, facilities and equipment for CUMH NeoNatal through multiple events. His work with CUH Charity has seen him raise €4,129.67 by completing the London Marathon 2024 and sharing his love of tennis with CUH/CUMH staff by organising the first Tennis Charity Tournament, at Sunday's Well Tennis Club. Anyone who knows Kannan knows that he goes above and beyond and we are very grateful for the work he has done for the charity. Thank you Kannan!!! ⭐ #ThankYou #CUMH #CUHCharity #LondonMarathon #NeoNatal #TennisCharityTournament #CharityWork

A moment to remember, as Caitriona Moriarty crosses the finish line carrying her daughter Sophie. 🏃♀️👩🍼 Caitriona was admitted to CUMH at 24 weeks pregnant, fearing that she may give birth that day. Luckily, she held on for another 5 weeks before Sophie was born at 29 weeks. Sophie's journey began with a stay in CUMH NICU for 2 weeks and a week in the Neonatal being cared for by staff, before transferring to Tralee and finally home with mum Caitriona and dad John Luke to meet her big sisters Chloe & Millie and her big brother Jack. In June Caitriona took part in the Run Killarney 10K & Half Marathon 2024, accompanied by her brother Vinny, sister Geraldine and friends Trish, Nora and Edel, running along side to support. The family and friends fundraising efforts saw them present CUMH staff with a cheque for over €10,000. The family wanting to thank the staff in person for the excellent care they were given during their time there. Thank you to the family, friends and everyone who supported them on their journey. #CUMH #NICU #Neonatal #RunKillarney #Gratitude

The Stryker Road Run celebrated its 10th annual run on Wednesday, reaching a funding milestone of €100,000!!! Stryker's support for children's services has helped to provide the best care possible to children in CUH and improve patient outcomes. We would also like to thank the over 600 participants of the most recent Road Run, without whom this milestone would not have been reached. Thank you for braving the unpredictable Irish weather with smiles and positive attitudes to make this event such a success. #Stryker4Mile #RoadRun #CharityRun #RaffleTickets #ChildrensUnit #CUH Cork University Hospitals Group Stryker

A landmark moment for the Three Johnnies. Since collecting their first plastic bottle back in April, we never could have guessed what it would lead to. To date, the Johnnies have returned 50,000 water bottles & cans and donated €7,500 to support vital services in CUH. Implementing designated return bins throughout campus, staff, patients and visitors have supported them immensely on their mission to return every bottle. They have accomplished so much in a short period of time and improved waste disposal through the campus. Re-turn Cork University Hospitals Group €7,500 raised 50,000 bottles returned 141 days 355 bottles collected a day 118 bottles a day per John

Cork continues to produce legends! ❤️🤍 Following on from double victories in the All Ireland Senior and Intermediate Camogie Championship, Cork Camogie players visited Cork University Hospitals Group Paediatrics to share the celebrations with some of their biggest fans. The players were incredible on the pitch and even more so off of it, taking the time to visit Puffin Ward, Ladybird, Safari, Seahorse and our Children's Emergency Department. Making the day of patients, parents and staff. Thank you all for your visit. Here's to you visiting again next year as triple champions! 🏆🏆🏆 #CamogieChampions #CorkHeroes #UpTheRebels #ThankYou

In case you somehow missed it, the Fitzgibbons are on a mission! ⭐ Babies Tadhg and Cathal along with their Mammy Ciara, Daddy Thomas & big brother Séamus are 10 days into their month-long journey to walk the 253km distance from CUMH to the Rotunda. The family are walking an average of 8.2km a day (sometimes Tadhg and Cathal nap in the pram while Mam pushes) often joined by friends and family to support them. They are currently over 30% of the way there and making their way through Tipperary... they're Tipping along nicely. The family are raising funds to help support the CUMH NeoNatal Unit and Fetal Surgery Dept in the Rotunda, the two hospitals oversaw the care of Ciara during her pregnancy and the two boys who had complication of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Kristy, Grace & Kate Kirwan visited the office to present their cheque for CUH Neurology, specifically in aid of Chiari Malformation. They, along with family members Tracy and Paul took part in the Great Limerick Run in May. 🏃♂️🏃♀️ Chiari malformation is a condition in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. The family have been amazing since first arriving at CUH and we are delighted for their success. Thank you to everyone who helped them achieve their goal and helped to support Kate's journey. #ThankYou #ChiariMalformation #GreatLimerickRun #NeurologyAwareness #CharityRun Cork University Hospitals Group
