As part of #LocalDevelopmentWeek, we're holding a webinar this morning, with Northside Partnership about Advantaged Thinking. We thought we'd share some resources about Advantaged Thinking from The Foyer Federation . Advantaged Thinking (AT) is a practice approach which was first developed by Colin Falconer, in 2011, when part of the UK youth charity, The Foyer Federation. The 7 Tests of Advantaged Thinking provide a helpful tool and framework to hold ourselves and others accountable. Each test helps us to spot negatives, try to overcome their influence and find positive ways forward. They can help us to identify strengths in others, connect with new people and build on existing relationships. Here are more resources from Foyer Federation https://lnkd.in/eZmsX2Py https://lnkd.in/ettR5Zec #LDW24 Irish Local Development Network #advantagedthinking

In this blog, our Level Up Tutor, Stephen O’Connell, talks about what it was like to work with participants in Level Up, our Task-Based English language programme. "We’ve developed lessons around reading current job advertisements, responding to questions in job interviews, and writing email requests to supervisors about changing a shift" Read more at: https://lnkd.in/eXNTreu4 #LDW24 Irish Local Development Network #newcommunities #dublinnorthwest #euinmyregion #lifelonglearning

To celebrate #LocalDevelopmentWeek, here's our blog on our Community Kitchen. Abdisalam, our New Communities Support Officer, talks about what he's experienced with the participants of the Community Kitchen, "I think it’s underestimated how important it is to have your own space to cook. It helps them to reconnect with their own home when they fill their own dishes. It’s very important to them" Read more at: https://lnkd.in/e8Rqn3Rm #LDW24 #newcommunities #dublinnorthwest #euinmyregion Irish Local Development Network

It's Local Development Week with the ILDN, where we celebrate the role of Local Development Companies (LDCs) in building vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities throughout Ireland We will be sharing some blogs about some of the work we do, photos and videos at events during the week. Together with Northside Partnership, we'll be hosting a webinar on Thursday, at 11am, on Advantaged Thinking. Advantaged Thinking (AT) is a practice approach, first developed by Colin Falconer, in 2011, when part of the UK youth charity, The Foyer Federation. It represents a shift in the way we think about and respond to people experiencing disadvantage. It challenges us to move away from a deficit, disadvantaged or problem-focused lens and recognise that all people have a vital contribution to make to the social, cultural and economic life of our communities and society. If you're interested in finding out more, click the link to register for Thursday's webinar. #LDW2024 Irish Local Development Network #LocalDevelopementWeek https://lnkd.in/eAkS5bMk #LDW2024
