A self-financing, private limited company wholly-owned by the State, whose business it is to manage Dublin Port.

About us

Dublin Port is the largest freight and passenger port in Ireland with all cargo handling activities being carried out by private sector companies operating in intensely competitive markets within the Port. Dublin Port is one of five major ports classified as Tier 1 / Tier 2 ports in National Port Policy and categorised as core / comprehensive ports in the EU’s TEN-T network. Dublin Port’s large share of national port volumes, particularly in the Ro-Ro and Lo-Lo modes, arises due to a combination of two factors, location and depth of water. Dublin Port is a key part of the national port system and Dublin Port Company seeks to ensure that it plays its role in providing national port capacity. Dublin Port handles almost 50% of all trade in the Republic of Ireland. Located in the heart of Dublin City and at the hub of the national road and rail network, Dublin Port is a key strategic access point for Ireland and in particular the Dublin area.

Today we are announcing the submission of our 3FM planning permission to transform port lands focused on the Poolbeg Peninsula.   The 3FM Project will be developed on existing brownfield lands in the port, focusing primarily on the Poolbeg Peninsula, where one-fifth of Dublin Port’s estate is located. The project will deliver close to 20% of port capacity required by 2040 by providing essential infrastructure and capacity for unitised cargo as demand for freight services from Continental Europe grows.    The Project includes the construction of a new bridge across the River Liffey as part of the Southern Port Access Route (SPAR), removing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), port and commercial traffic from existing public roads leading to and from the Tom Clarke Bridge, while giving pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users 7.0 km of cycle and pedestrian routes for active travel across the Poolbeg Peninsula and River Liffey. In addition, a new Maritime Village, public park and enhanced public and community amenities will be provided, all designed to improve and protect the port’s local community, natural environment and maritime heritage. 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘙𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥, 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦, two off-site solo exhibitions by 𝗬𝘂𝗿𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 and 𝗟𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱, are now open at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port. 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘙𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥, 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 takes its title from James Joyce’s ubiquitous 𝘜𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴. The phrase itself is often used to describe the relationship between time and labour. There are further associations with journeys, departures, homecomings, and new beginnings. In Liliane Puthod's exhibition 𝘉𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘉𝘦𝘦𝘱, two embellished shipping containers hold precious cargo: a 1962 Renault 4 (R4) car reanimated by the artist from her late father’s dusty shed in her hometown in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. Akin to a chariot excavated in an ancient tomb, the R4 temporarily occupies the innermost vault, with foam-lined walls that cushion and protect this treasured hoard. Rather than being surrounded by canopic jars, stone tablets and untold riches, Puthod’s R4 is complemented with coolant cylinders, repair instruction manuals and scratchcards. The line between archaeology and industrial repair is expanded as the R4 becomes a ‘time machine’ of sorts, making mobile a perfectly restored artefact and returning it into the movement of daily life 60 years after it was fabricated.
