This year, we reported a -2.5% mean gender pay gap in favour of women. It’s our 7th year publishing our gender pay gap report since mandatory reporting was introduced in the UK in 2017. ♀️Looking back, we’ve found that change begins at the top. Promoting gender equity and closing the pay gap is only possible if we have more female advocacy in leadership roles. ♀️Women are naturally more empathetic and this creates a culture of compassion and active listening from the top that spreads through the organisation so more women feel seen and heard. ♀️We asked a cross section of women at FDM what it means to them to have female role models in leadership. Here's what they had to say. Meet Calvin Pillay, an FDM Consultant who recently took on a remarkable challenge for a worthy cause. Having joined FDM two years ago, Calvin has been thriving as a Business Analyst with a leading financial client. “I wanted to transition into the tech industry and after extensive research, I found FDM to be the perfect launchpad for my career. They embrace graduates from all disciplines and value attitude and problem-solving skills over specific degrees.” When Calvin learned about FDM’s partnership with Walking With The Wounded, he jumped at the chance to support veterans facing physical, mental, or social challenges. The team set out with a goal of raising £100 per person to hit a total of £3,200. Despite the initial cohort dropping from 32 to 23, they exceeded expectations and raised £3,479. “The challenge was incredibly rewarding. With perfect weather and an amazing group, we pushed through together”. They tackled the SAS route covering 24km in distance, starting at the iconic Storey Arms Red Telephone Box, climbing Pen y Fan and descending Jacobs Ladder, all while following the ancient Roman road. Way to go, Calvin and team! Let’s keep the momentum going for such an important cause. #WeAreFDM #WalkingWithTheWounded #MakingADifference

Each month, talented FDM Consultants on client assignment are recognised by their line managers for going above and beyond in their role. Congratulations to one of our October Consultant of the Month winners in #Canada, Gautam Chintapalli 🏆 "I completed my post-graduate diploma in Computer Networks and System Administration from Conestoga College. I am now on client assignment as a Mainframe Developer with one of the largest banking institutions in Canada. Additionally, I have a background as a trained merchant navy officer. I joined FDM in July 2022 as part of the Software Engineering Practice with a focus on Selenium and software testing. I also received a crash-course in Mainframes, which has been invaluable in my current client assignment. It's been two years with my client, and as time has progressed, my responsibilities have grown more complex and sophisticated. My role now covers a wide range, from software development to on-call production support. FDM's coaching and support have been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and grow within my team. I also want to give credit to my manager and team for their continuous support. The application I work on is very complicated, but with their help, I've been able to learn, resolve issues and evolve throughout this journey." #WeAreFDM #COTM

FDM CEO Rod Flavell recently spoke to TechSkills.org Journal about creating opportunities in the tech industry. He emphasised the need to develop new tech talent, especially from under-represented backgrounds and outlined how the new government can tackle the skills gap. Here are some of the key takeaways: 💡 A wave of Baby Boomers in tech is nearing retirement, creating an impending talent gap in legacy technologies. 💡 Importance of getting the younger generations familiar with legacy tech to bridge the skills gap and reduce risks. 💡 Opportunities should be created for historically overlooked demographics, including military veterans, career returners, and graduates, to upskill and join the tech workforce. 💡 The cost of higher education has become a significant barrier for most people with students incurring up to £50k worth of debt at the end of university. 💡 A government - industry collaboration can provide skills training to people who’re keen to enter the tech industry without the liability of student debt. 💡 The previous Apprenticeship Levy should be replaced with a mandated scheme for employers to hire 18 -21-year-olds. 💡 FDM Group was the first company to receive Tech Industry Gold accreditation for its innovative skills development programmes. It highlights our commitment to providing practical, future-focused training, and reinforces trust with learners, clients, and our shareholders. 🎉 Watson Ogoriba, one of our incredibly talented consultants, has been named #October Consultant of the Month for #Canada! 👏 Here's what Watson has to say about his journey: "I joined FDM in December 2021 in the Change and Transformation Practice. Currently, I’m on client assignment as a Business Systems Analyst with one of Canada’s largest banks. While my role has remained consistent, I’ve gained valuable experience in the banking sector and embraced a more senior position within the team. My time on assignment has been fantastic, thanks to a supportive line manager who encouraged me to take on this new challenge, including mentoring and coaching new team members. The projects I'm working on are centered around enhancing customer experience, and I couldn't be happier with my on-site experience." #WeAreFDM #COTM

Roisin Williams is one of our highly talented consultants, currently on assignment as a Service Strategy Support Specialist at a prestigious German bank. She was recognised by her line manager for the excellent work she has been doing and won October Consultant of the Month for the UK 👏. "I studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Chester, graduating in 2019. During the pandemic, I contributed to COVID-19 efforts by producing lateral flow tests. In late 2020, I joined FDM’s Change and Transformation Practice and have since gained valuable certifications, including PRINCE2, which solidified my passion for project management and problem-solving. I have been with my client for four years and the hands-on experience I have gained has been pivotal in my role as the lead data coordinator for Records Retention. I use my SQL, Excel, and Scrum knowledge daily to manage KPIs and support my team. My role has evolved significantly since joining FDM, especially with the push toward automation. I’ve become the central hub for all data and KPI metrics within my team, producing reports and insights for internal and external projects. One of my proudest moments was being entrusted to handle KPI reports for divisional heads, reflecting the trust my team leader places in me. My aspirations lie in project management, and with the skills I’ve developed, I look forward to driving even more impactful initiatives in the future." Join us in celebrating Roisin and her amazing journey. 🎉 #WeAreFDM #COTM #ConsultantoftheMonth #SuccessStory #ProjectManagement #BusinessIntelligence
