📝 Case Study: Tipperary Sláintecare Healthy Communities Use Innovative Reflective Cards To Improve Local Cancer Care Experience The idea for this project came from the work of Dr Marie Walsh, who uncovered cancer survivors' best advice for dealing with a cancer diagnosis. The research supported the development of an innovative initiative supporting mindful affirmation, guidance and inspiration for cancer patients during treatment and recovery. Collaborating with local support groups, visual artists, and students, aiming to provide informal mental health support, the initiative was launched in July 2024, using the cards in mindfulness sessions or individually, helping cancer survivors through shared wisdom and experience. More than €1 million in funding has been announced today for the development and improvement of 517 walking trails around the country. Under the initiative, some 203 community groups will receive grants ranging from €1,500 to €35,000 for the development and upgrade of their local trails. Funding is also being provided under the scheme to support groups to promote their trails as tourist attractions.
