Dublin Journalists Golf Society captain Roddy Hyland presented a cheque for €10,800 to HUGG, the proceeds of their Society’s recent hugely successful Charity Day at the prestigious Killeen Castle Golf Club in County Meath. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Society’s foundation, Jubilee captain Hyland joined HUGG CEO and founder fiona tuomey and DJGS Charity Committee members in Dublin for the presentation of record proceeds from the annual Charity Day. Captain Roddy Hyland said: “We are delighted as we celebrate our 50th anniversary to present HUGG with a donation that will make a real difference to the brilliant and essential service that they offer to those affected by suicide across Ireland. We are proud that our members supported HUGG in such a significant way at our Charity Day at Killeen Castle and we are touched that this money raised can make even a small difference to anyone affected by suicide. I want to thank Fiona and HUGG for allowing us to be a small part of their ongoing and outstanding work. " HUGG is truly grateful to the Dublin Journalists’ Golf Society for organising their charity day in aid of HUGG. The funds raised will enable us to set up and run a support group for an entire year, which can be lifesaving for a person impacted by suicide. A heartfelt thank you to all involved and everyone who made this donation possible. HUGG offers FREE suicide bereavement support groups nationwide. All HUGG Support Groups are led by trained volunteers with a lived experience of suicide bereavement. We welcome adults bereaved by suicide, regardless of the length of time since the death occurred, the relationship the person had to the person who died by suicide, or the circumstances of the death. After a death by suicide, those left behind often carry unanswered questions, stigma, self-isolation and blame, in addition to the trauma of losing their loved one. Connecting with others who understand this grief can offer hope for the future where the pain and loss can be carried a little lighter, and can be lifesaving for many. If you are interested in learning more please get in touch, everyone who makes contact will receive a call back. Call 01 513 4048, email support@HUGG.ie or Visit www.HUGG.ie and click Join a Group
