Yesterday we organised an engaging discussion for Irish Funds members on the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (#DORA) at KPMG's Platform X. The event delivered practical insights on implementing DORA in the funds and asset management industry in Ireland. Our expert panellists discussed how firms are approaching key topics from a #legal, #advisory and management company perspective. We also heard from the Central Bank of Ireland on how they interpret various aspects of the regulation and their approach to supervision post January 2025. Key takeaways from the panel discussion: ➡️ DORA aims to ensure that firms can endure, respond to, and recover from various cyber threats and #operationalrisks related to digital systems. ➡️ DORA is a risk management programme focused on Information and Communication Technology (#ICT). While it shares similarities with previous Outsourcing and Operational Resilience programmes, its scope is notably on ICT services utilised by firms. ➡️ As an initial step, priority should be given to mapping Critical Important Functions and scoping a firms Register of Information. The term "critical" should be understood as functions that are highly material and time-sensitive to restore. ➡️ Acknowledgement that the ESAs are yet to clarify certain areas, and some final texts are still pending. Firms are expected to have robust planning in place for the January 2025 deadline. Thank you to our speakers for their valuable insights: Jorge Fernandez Revilla, KPMG, Antonia Mahony FCCA, Carne Group, Jörn Dobberstein, Central Bank of Ireland, Niall Esler, Walkers, Michelle Byrne and Triona Dever Universal-Investment. #IrishFunds #seminar #insights

🎉The Irish Funds Transition Year Financial Literacy Programme is back for the 2024/2025 school year, and kicked off this week at Cashel Community School. We are excited to continue on our work last year bringing the programme to over 600 students in 18 schools across 10 counties with Deloitte proudly sponsoring the programme for the second year in a row. 🤝 Eibhlin Johnston, along with Aislinn O'Keeffe and Andrew Downey CAMS from Waystone, delivered the session to 25 students. They covered key topics such as introductions to savings and investments, the importance of pensions, and how to plan for the future. Waystone provided fantastic insights into the #InvestmentFunds and #AssetManagement industry in Ireland, linking the day's discussions to real-world financial applications. The students also got an opportunity to create their very own Financial Times Schools Portfolio! Now, it's time for them to track the markets over the coming weeks and see how their investments perform. 🙌Looking forward to seeing how this knowledge will empower these future financial leaders! #IrishFunds #TYProgramme #FinancialLiteracy #Learning

📢 Ireland’s funds and asset management industry contributes nearly €1 billion in taxes and employs 20,000 people, with almost half of those jobs outside Dublin. The recognition in the #Budget2025 is welcome, but urgent action is needed to keep Ireland #competitive. We must boost retail participation, close the gap in #privatemarket investments, and #modernise our regulatory environment. Now is the time to take bold steps to secure the #future for our citizens, preserve and #grow a champion national industry and ensure Ireland thrives in the #evolving global economy. 🗞 Read more in our Chief Executive's latest op-ed in Business Post: https://lnkd.in/ePEVaNME Pat Lardner #IrishFunds #Indecon #Action
