This means that EV and Hybrid drivers drive differently, which can increase or decrease your risk." Are #ElectricVehicle drivers at greater risk of causing an accident? Research by Kevin McDonnell, Barry Sheehan, Ph. D. and Finbarr Murphy of Lero, the Research Ireland Centre for Software and Kemmy Business School U. looked at specific risky behaviours and compared these between EVs, traditional vehicles, and hybrid. Drivers of electric vehicles (#EVs) are more likely to be involved in at-fault road traffic accidents than drivers of #petrol and #diesel cars, a study by researchers at Lero, the Research Ireland Centre for #Software, and University of Limerick reveals. In a paper published in the journal Accident Analysis & Prevention, the Lero researchers analysed #insurance claims and data from onboard sensors and revealed a number of key findings. Lero mourns the passing of former Principal Investigator, University of Limerick Professor (Emeritus) Liam Bannon. Liam was not only a brilliant researcher but also a supportive and kind colleague and friend to many of us. As well as having been a Lero PI, Liam was the founder of UL's Interaction Design Centre. Liam’s contributions to Lero were invaluable and he continued to be an important part of the centre after his retirement. He was a regular visitor to Lero and a great supporter of the centre's events. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends. https://lnkd.in/eTrh3UeP
