What an incredible achievement 🙌 Our deepest thanks and gratitude to all involved, an event like this takes a huge amount of work by volunteers who so generously give their time to organise such a fun run that will have lasting impact on our community. Thanks to all at Dublin Pride Run (by the Dublin Front Runners) from the chair & committee, the race director, the sponsors and of course the participants 💕 We are proud to be one of the chosen charities alongside ShoutOut and Sanctuary Runners 🫶 Thank you for supporting our work
We are thrilled to announce that the final amount raised from Dublin Pride Run 2024 is a massive €76,016.82! We are very proud to have raised such a staggering amount for these charities. The funds raised will make a real difference to the important services they provide. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this year's Pride Run in so many different ways! Want to know more about LGBT Ireland? During 2023, we supported thousands of LGBTQI+ people and their family members through our helplines, online chat, and peer support services. We continued to be a gateway for information on regional and local LGBTQI+ services through lgbt.ie, provided one-to-one support to callers with more complex needs, and responded to the increasing numbers of LGBTQI+ people seeking international protection here in Ireland as they flee from war and persecution at home. We increased LGBTQI+ awareness and inclusion in health, social care and other public services through our training programmes, and we worked hard alongside our civil society partners to effect legal and policy change to improve protections and rights for our community. Our board, staff team, incredible volunteers and partners work hard every day to achieve our mission, but this work is only possible with the support of our funders, donors and corporate supporters. LGBT Ireland welcomes the decision by the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Psychological Society of Ireland to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapy on the Island of Ireland, which was launched at Trinity College Dublin last Friday. The memo makes it clear that “conversion therapy in relation to gender identity and sexual orientation is unethical, potentially harmful and is not supported by evidence.” In signing the Memo, the three bodies renounce conversion therapy and commit to ending the practice in Ireland. Each body will now put together an action plan that will include training and ongoing professional development. LGBT Ireland was delighted to support this work in our capacity as the Chair of the Coalition to Ban Conversion Practices in Ireland. We look forward to this policy being reinforced by a legislative ban in the near future. Against a very dreary sky, Dublin absolutely came out to Shine for Pride on Saturday! Thanks to everyone who came out to support. We take this opportunity to thank our incredible volunteers, board members, staff team, funders, donors and all those who provide support to LGBT Ireland to help us deliver on our mission to make Ireland the best place in Europe to be LGBTQI+ 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Thank you to the incredible Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride CLG who once again put on a festival hosting thousands of people without a hitch! Pride is so important for the LGBTQI+ community to come together to celebrate, remember and also to protest. Our community is deeply affected by hate speech and hate crime, we need to see effective hate speech and hate crime law enacted now.
