    Inspiring Psychology students to explore corporate roles Benedikt, Consultant Candidate & Employee Insights at Lidl International, joined #teamlidl in 2023. With a background in psychology and experience in psychological aptitude diagnostics, Benedikt now consults Lidl countries on using tools like personality tests for hiring. 🧠✨ "Part of my job is to identify the key competencies essential for success at Lidl, and to create methods to assess these competencies in applicants. It's about making abstract qualities measurable," Benedikt explains. Recently, Benedikt was invited to lecture at the University of Trier about careers in psychology within a corporate setting. "I knew the university through a colleague involved in a cooperation between Lidl and the University of Trier. This connection led to an invitation to give the lecture." Benedikt's lecture focused on career paths for psychology graduates in business. The students responded positively, both to the lecture and to the ongoing projects with Lidl. "I was thrilled to give this lecture. I remember how inspiring some lectures were during my student days. It felt great to show students what a career as a psychologist at Lidl could look like, and I hope it inspired them!" 🤩 What unique career paths have you discovered in your professional journey?     Behind the scenes: How Elke and Marc turn passion into profession with Lidl-Trek Elke and Marc, Consultants in Sport Partnerships at Lidl International, collaborate closely on the Lidl-Trek partnerships, including major events like the Tour de France. 🇫🇷🚴♂️ Elke, a former cyclist for the German national team and participant in the women's Tour de France, partners with Marc, a passionate hobby cyclist with a background in Sports Management. Elke leads activation topics such as the Tour de France, while Marc focuses on project management and strategic planning. "I believe we truly complement each other. Including Elke and me, our team has seven people dedicated to Lidl-Trek topics. What unites us is that we've turned our passion into our profession," Marc says. Elke emphasizes their role in maximizing the benefits of the Lidl-Trek partnership and promoting Lidl values such as healthy nutrition and regular exercise. "We are the contact person and supporter of the Lidl-Trek cycling team. We want to advance the team in sports and support it with 'Lidl Power'," she explains. 💪🍏 The team also collaborates closely with colleagues from various Lidl countries. The campaign team creates a toolkit for all countries so that regional colleagues can tailor the communication focus based on their regional interests. "For example, Belgium, a big cycling nation, takes more responsibility as they have been communicating about cycling for a while," Elke adds. 🚲✨ Reflecting on their experiences with the Lidl-Trek projects, Marc says, "In the end, it matters that I'm very enthusiastic about my job and truly believe in what we are doing. Promoting cycling and a healthy diet as a food retailer is a perfect and important topic that I wholeheartedly support." Elke adds, "It's especially nice when we cycle together as a team. What we talk about all the time, we also carry out ourselves and live it. It's something we do together.     Celebrating 25 years of Lidl Northern Ireland Lidl Northern Ireland is celebrating a significant milestone - 25 years since opening its first store in Cookstown. Over the years, it has expanded to more than 40 stores across the region. 😍   The journey of growth includes the opening of the Regional Distribution Centre in Nutts Corner, County Antrim, in 2003. This facility has been crucial in ensuring smooth operations. Today, Lidl Northern Ireland partners with 60 local suppliers, contributing to the local economy. 💚   Its commitment to social responsibility has been a cornerstone of its success. From launching the Lidl Community Works program in 2014 to becoming the first major nationwide employer to commit to paying the Living Wage in 2015, Lidl Northern Ireland has continuously led by example. Most recently, it was honored with the Business Eye Sustainable Retailer of the Year award in 2024. 🏆   Congratulations to Lidl Northern Ireland!     Tour de France Femmes avec Lidl-Trek 🚴♀️   We are thrilled to support our Lidl-Trek riders at the Tour de France! 💪   After a dedicated training phase, Shirin van Anrooij is competing at the race. Elisa Longo Borghini, unfortunately, had a training crash and was not able to join the competition. We wish her all the best for her recovery and look forward to seeing her back racing when she is ready!   🚀 Shirin is focused on delivering her best performance. "The training phase was tough, but it helped me clear my mind and focus on the race," says Shirin.   ✨ Elisa's setback highlights the importance of recovery and healing. "As athletes, we will experience more setbacks than wins, and it's important to deal with them professionally and focus on healing," says Elisa.   🎯 Shirin adds: “It’s always hard to listen to your body because you always want to perform at your top level. But it is important to focus on what is still possible, adjust your goals, and work toward those.     Getting a grip on recycling: In future, shopping baskets at Lidl International and Kaufland Deutschland stores will be made from recycled material processed by the environmental division PreZero International of the Schwarz Gruppe. ♻️ Truly special about this: The shopping baskets are made of post-consumer recyclate, which is a material that has been recycled from previously used wrapping. The post-consumer recycled material used for this comes from the recycling waste containers of households, primarily in Germany. 👉 In future, Lidl and Kaufland hand-held baskets will be made from 75% recycled material and roller baskets from 80% recycled material. Replacement is taking place gradually. 👉 The companies of Schwarz Group will save more than 390 tons of new plastic and 698 tons of CO₂ equivalents as a result of the changeover. 👉 This is equal to the greenhouse gas emissions caused by approx. 1,400 return air trips between Frankfurt and Majorca.
