We are delighted to be awarded Highly Commended Company of the Year in the AIB Business Eye Awards 2024 🎉 As we mark 25 years in Northern Ireland this year, we're very proud of all that we have achieved. Last year alone, Lidl Northern Ireland contributed a significant £360 million to the local economy and supported almost 7,000 jobs across the region, growing our store network and our workforce. With a focus on supporting the local agri-food industry, we spent almost half a billion last year in supporting more than 50 suppliers across the region to deliver quality products at market leading value to our half a million weekly customers. A huge thank you to Richard Buckley / Business Eye and the whole Business Eye team and congratulations to all the finalists and winners.

To date, Lidl Northern Ireland has already recorded a 17% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland (compared to 2019) as part of Lidl’s commitment to reduce operational emission by 46% by 2030. We attribute this reduction to our use of 100 percent green electricity in each of our 42 stores across the region and our Regional Distribution Centre in Nutts Corner since 2019, alongside a wide range of other sustainability initiatives. It was a big day for Lidl Northern Ireland as we opened our new £7m flagship store on Boucher Road in South Belfast. Boucher Road marks our 42nd store in the region, tenth within the Greater Belfast area and the first Lidl in South Belfast. We were delighted to be joined by Lord Mayor of Belfast Micky Murray and extremely proud to welcome our Lidl Northern Ireland Sport for Good ambassador, Rhys McClenaghan to cut the ribbon to officially open the new store, on the back of his recent success at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The Boucher Road store team celebrated the new store opening by donating £1,000 in store vouchers to two local charities, Barnados NI and Belfast & Lisburn Women’s Aid.

Work has officially started on the region's largest new Lidl Northern Ireland store at Riverside Retail Park in Coleraine! At least 18 new jobs will be created as part of a multi-million-pound local store investment, bringing the total team employed to 40. Around 200 jobs are also being created as part of the construction project. The new store will be relocated from its existing position within the Riverside Retail Park in Coleraine, where it has been trading since 2005, to a larger site within the complex. The Coleraine store is the latest investment by Lidl Northern Ireland in the northwest, complementing new store opening in recent years in Strabane, Ballymoney and Limavady. A huge thanks to Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor Ciarán McQuillan for joining us to break ground on the new site and to our contractors GEDA Construction who we are working with to bring this new, state-of-the-art, sustainably focused store to the local area. #LidlNorthernIreland #Construction #Retail

We were delighted to welcome South Belfast MLA Deirdre Hargey and Councillor Daniel Bassett to our Carryduff site today as construction work progresses in developing a brand-new Lidl Northern Ireland store at the site of the former Carryduff Shopping Centre. One of the region’s oldest shopping centres, built in 1985, Carryduff Shopping Centre closed in 2013. Since acquiring the site in August 2020, Lidl Northern Ireland has been working closely with stakeholders and the local community to realise the project to regenerate the formerly derelict site and bring a new, state-of-the-art Lidl store to local shoppers, along with additional retail units. Built with sustainability at its core, the new store opening will see around 35 jobs created, providing further employment and significantly revitalising the area with a new retail offering serving a thriving community. Local shoppers will soon benefit from quality products at market-leading prices and enjoy an unrivalled shopping experience with the region's fastest-growing retailer. #construction #LidlNorthernIreland #LidlNI25

We're delighted to be named NOW Group's Academy Partner of the Year in recognition of our work in supporting people with autism and learning difficulties into retail careers. In June 2023, we embarked on our new partnership with NOW Group to launch the Retail Skills Academy. This pioneering initiative supports participants as they gain hands-on experience and learn industry-specific skills, at the same time as encouraging independence, resilience and employability. Successful participants graduate with GCSE-equivalent certification OCN NI Level 1 Award in Retail Business, with real world experience through in-store retail placements of up to 40 hours across our network of 41 stores in Northern Ireland. Our first 12 participants have completed the programme with great results, with half of the graduates already securing permanent employment. We looking forward to building on our early success with more students in the months and years ahead. Bonnie Shaw, from County Down, who took part in the programme and is currently working as a Customer Assistant in our Lidl Connswater store, said: “Getting involved in the Retail Skills Academy with support from Lidl Northern Ireland and NOW Group has been a fantastic experience. It’s helped to boost my confidence, develop my skills and encourage me to achieve more. I love coming to work, meeting with colleagues and helping all our local shoppers – the future is bright.” #WeAreLidl 📷 Bonnie Shaw, Customer Assistant in Lidl Connswater, Paddy Crowther Employment Development Manager at NOW Group, Adele Lyle Senior Talent Management Specialist at Lidl Northern Ireland, Ivan Ryan Regional Managing Director at Lidl Northern Ireland and Sean Hanna Group Director of Services at NOW Group
