The Economic Development Team offer a professional service in a range of complementary areas aimed at facilitating and encouraging business investment in County Meath. Meath Local Enterprise Office (LEO) provides a full information and advisory service to new and existing entrepreneurs on all aspects of setting up and running a business. The Meath LEO serves as a first stop shop to provide support and services for those looking to start, grow and develop a business in Meath. The office also acts as an information source and referral point for all state enterprise agencies and for other initiatives, providing information on enterprise incentives, business structures, taxation, regulatory obligations, market research, etc Meath County Council is the primary unit of Local Government in County Meath.

    The Government announced the Power Up grant as part of Budget 25 for businesses in the Retail and Hospitality sector. The Power Up grant has a budget of €170 million and the grant to eligible businesses will be €4,000.     The Cathaoirleach, Councillor Sharon Tolan and Chief Executive of Meath County Council, Mr. Kieran Kehoe, have paid tribute to LMFM Presenter Michael Reade. In a collective statement the Cathaoirleach and Chief Executive said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of Michael’s passing. Michael was a voice for the people of County Meath and the North East and his passing will leave a huge void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues at LMFM and his loyal listeners. We offer our sincere condolences to Michael’s wife Sandra, his son Luke, bothers, sister and extended family." Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílís.

    Meath County Council’s e-Planning portal is now live and accepting planning applications online. The new portal https://lnkd.in/eFEmbZH3 allows agents, developers and members of the public to lodge their applications and make planning submissions and observations electronically. The online system will run as an additional option to the existing paper-based system. The new system offers improved efficiencies including • Online payment of fees by card and EFT • Faster availability of information for the public • Reduced printing costs for applicants • Delivers on the Government strategy to move more public services online.     A #StatusYellow wind warning is in place from 00.00 Sunday 20th October until 03.00 Monday 21st October. Met Eireann has advised this storm may have 2 peaks, am and pm, people are advised to take extra care during this period especially whilst travelling. #StormAshley coincides with the highest spring tides of the year and some coastal flooding and wave over-topping may occur. Please follow the Irish Coast Guard's advice to Stay Back, Stay High and Stay Dry during the storm.

    As Today is World Food Day here is a reminder that the Samhain Festival of Food and Culture is less than one month away from kick off Celebrate Ireland's rich culinary history this year at Samhain Festival of Food and Culture with Sheridan's Irish Food Fair. The Festival which takes place in Kells, Co Meath from 7th-10th November will feature the biggest names in Irish food and arts.     Road Safety week 2024 has come to an end but in reality, it should be like every other week on the road. Safe driving behaviors are not something that you adopt just to avoid detection but are lifesaving habits when it comes to driving on the road. Audrey Norris, Road Safety Officer and Inspector Peter Gilsenan, Roads Policing Unit would like to thank everyone who has engaged with our Road Safety content and more importantly thank everyone who continues to drive safely on our roads.
