Architecture and Planning

We are an award winning multidisciplinary practice of architects and urban designers with studios in London and Dublin.

About us

Founded in 2005, we are a multidisciplinary practice of architects and urban designers. We collaborate across two studios in Dublin and London, and strive to become one of the most trusted, original and responsible voices for architecture and urbanism. Stimulating to work for and engaging to work with. We have a studio culture that is open minded; we listen to better understand, we share our knowledge collegially, we cherish and value genuine collaboration. The work we do is underpinned by a rigorous approach and coherent dialogue, to create something that is thoughtful, creative, engaging and particular. Our design comes from a close engagement with the client and the brief, through a process that harnesses the full spectrum of society’s talent. We collaborate with a wide variety of different people from artists and carpenters to researchers and writers. From local authorities, planners, community engagement consultants, and housing developers to, most importantly, the end-users.

🏘️ We recently facilitated workshops for Hadley Property Group's 980 Great West Road redevelopment in Brentford, in partnership with Metropolitan Workshop LLP, Haworth Tompkins & McGregor Coxall. 📋 4 out of 6 sessions have taken place so far. Each session entailed co-producing ideas and opportunities for the future plans with local residents, exploring key themes such as; 'Accessibility & Navigation' and 'Green, Blue (Canal/River) & Play Spaces'. Upcoming sessions will see us focus on practical facilities in the area and spaces for young people. 🤝 We are loving the creativity and ideas coming from the community and are excited to share the learnings as this work progresses. A huge thanks to everyone who has shared their insights so far - we look forward to sharing more updates on this exciting project soon! #CoDesign #CommunityEngagement #Workshop #Housing #ResidentEngagement

Well this is nice. We recently welcomed residents from across Hounslow to help us kick off our newest co-design programme on the Great West Road in Brentford. Facilitated by ourselves and a team made up of Neighbourly Lab, Metropolitan Workshop, Haworth Tompkins and McGregor Coxall, we spent two evenings discussing Accessibility & Navigation and Green, Blue & Play Spaces for the forthcoming redevelopment of the now defunct office HQ. Neighbourly Lab and Metropolitan Workshop have been working closely with Hadley's Comms and Design teams the last few months to curate a six-step co-design process to inform our masterplan. We've engaged a broad and diverse group of people from the local area, asking them to lend their lived experience and expertise to inform our proposals. The group will play a fundamental role in the development process, with sessions hosted specifically for women's and girls' safety and young people - groups commonly "designed out" of public spaces. The co-design sessions will cover these six key themes: · Accessibility and Navigation · Green, Blue, and Play Spaces · Entertainment and Leisure facilities · Women and Girls Safe Spaces · Practical Facilities · Youth Facilities Across the sessions, we will continue to work collaboratively with local people from all walks of life, ensuring our designs are rooted in longevity to benefit the community now and well into the future. We look forward to welcoming more residents to our upcoming sessions and reporting back on progress and influence in the coming months.

So thank you Irish Architecture Foundation and all our visitors this evening. #OpenHouse24

👏 We’re delighted to share the news that our Carpenters Estate Masterplan has been shortlisted for a NLA New London Award. This pivotal document was co-developed with existing residents by the talented teams at Proctor & Matthews Architects and Metropolitan Workshop LLP, along with planning consultants Tibbalds / CampbellReith (JV), and sets the overarching pattern and ambition for the development as it progresses through its phases. Big shout to LDA Design and XCO2 for landscaping and energy/sustainability reporting respectively. As one of London’s largest estate regenerations, Carpenters Estate will deliver over 2,000 homes, along with new commercial spaces and new and improved public realm. Residents were absolutely key to shaping the vision, with sessions held in the community hub building, The Dovetail, to establish core principles and ambitions for the regeneration, in line with Populo's community wealth building principles. Key to final scheme was the resident's desire to build on the strong sense of community and the existing streetscape to deliver a safe and sustainable neighbourhood for existing and returning residents. The plans also needed to speak to a new generation of diverse residents who will make Carpenters their home . Populo Living – delivering more and better homes on behalf of London Borough of Newham. 🤞Looking forward to the winners being selected on 21st of November - good luck to all the teams involved. 🤞 Populo Comms #Newham #CarpentersEstate #regeneration #NewLondonArchitecture #Masterplan #PopuloLiving #RokhsanaFiaz
