About us
MIDAS is an industry led cluster consisting of industry, educational, research and government agencies, working together to assist in the development of the 'micro and nano-electronics based systems sector' in Ireland. MIDAS began in 1999 as the Microelectronics Industry Design Association with a focus mainly on the design of advanced integrated circuits. Today MIDAS aims to represent the entire value chain, as the industry evolves to deliver more complete electronic and software system solutions. MIDAS is a member of Silicon Europe which is an alliance of Europe's leading micro and nano-electronics clusters. MIDAS is the key enabler of networking opportunities that develop in our industry.

We were honoured to be hosted by Analog Devices, Inc. in #Boston, alongside Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment Peter Burke, as part of his St. Patrick’s Day programme to the United States. Our visit included a tour of the #AnalogGarage, ADI’s incubation lab for early-stage ventures pioneering innovation and long-term research and development in disruptive technologies, across machine learning, circuits, sensors, security, and signal processing. This was a valuable opportunity to discuss the skills-development and infrastructure needs required, to support Ireland’s ongoing development as a global hub for cutting-edge innovation and technology. As the first global semiconductor company to invest in Ireland, Analog Devices, Inc. continues to be a leader within the industry in Ireland. With nearly 50 years of presence in Ireland, the company now employs over 1,800 people across three sites in Limerick, Cork, and Dublin. In 2023, ADI announced a €630 million investment in a #Semiconductor R&D and Manufacturing Facility at its European regional headquarters in Limerick. The investment was supported via the Important Project of Common European Interest (#IPCEI), the first IPCEI in which Ireland has directly participated. Thank you to Martin Cotter, SVP, Vertical Business Units & President, ADI EMEA, Gina Aquilano, Fellow & Managing Director, ADI EMEA, and Mike Morrissey, Senior Catalyst Director, ADI Ireland, for hosting IDA’s Executive Director, Mary Buckley, and IDA’s VP of CCBS, Karen Healy. We look forward to our continued partnership in the decades ahead as Analog Devices continues to innovate, transform, and shape the future of the semiconductor industry. #InvestInIreland #InvestInExtraordinary #StPatricksDay
