NUALIGHT was founded in 2004, and as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, I personally feel huge pride in what we have achieved during this time.   Firstly I wish to express a very big thank you to all our customers and staff, past and present.   Millions of people every day purchase products in stores around the world because of the impact created by our illumination.  Millions of people interacting with our products at some level on an hourly basis. Millions of opportunities to make a difference for the better!   Our founders were at the forefront of white light LED niche implementations, pioneering the technology’s application in the refrigerated display category. Nualight’s foundations were built around a small team of visionary Irish scientists and engineers, with formidable sales leadership and marketing excellence. We have built out what we set to achieve, a company that truly is a global leader in refrigerated display lighting.   Today, we continue to stay authentic to our founding principles. We have a uniquely experienced and knowledgeable team, who possess the capability and innovation required every day, across all areas of our business, to stay ahead.    We have the team, ambition, adaptability and vision to exceed our future growth targets. We will continue to be true to who we are as people, and most importantly have fun whilst still growing together. I have made many lifelong friends who I trust and respect, many of whom are still colleagues today and some are even customers. I have been on this personal journey for approaching 17 years and very much look forward to the next twenty. Thank you Liam Kelly, Peter Mazalon and all our directors for their continuing support. Did you know that refrigerated display case lighting was one of the first applications to be transformed by the introduction of white light LEDs? It was in 2004, 20 years ago, that NUALIGHT was founded to leverage this newly emerging technology and lead a sea-change in retail lighting. Packaging is a huge contributor to the world's waste problems. At NUALIGHT we recognise this and work hard to ensure the distribution of our products has the minimal possible impact on sustainability for us, our customers and the world. In addition to all packaging materials being 100% recyclable, we specify cardboard cartons with a minimum 90% recycled pulp content. NUALIGHT long ago eliminated the use of polystyrene, in favour of recyclable foamed EPE, with 98% of this materials volume being only bubbles of air. Having also recently doubled the number products shipped within each box, we've achieved an almost halving of the quantity of packaging generated. The resulting reduction in shipping weight and volume has helped to further lower our logistical C02 emissions. Whilst clever packaging design and thorough drop+vibration testing ensures NUALIGHT products remain fully protected during transit. #recycle #reuse #retail #supermarket #nualight

CASE LIGHTING TOUGHNESS & CUSTOMER SAFETY Customer safety is naturally a paramount concern for all retailers, particularly where the merchandising of refrigerated goods brings shoppers in closer proximity with the electro-mechanical systems of refrigerated display cases. The most exposed of these being the integrated lighting. Whether the now obsolete fluorescent or LED, here the risks from both breakages and electrical shock need to be carefully assessed and mitigated. Traditionally fluorescent tube lamps, and many newer LED tube replacements, are constructed from glass. This poses an obvious hazard, as the inherently fragile nature of these light sources lend them to easily shatter when knocked. Even tubes encapsulated within plastic sleeves can still be easily damaged, and though shards are contained in this case, replacement is still required. A second risk arises of potential electric shock from damaged lighting. Again in particular LED tube replacements, as these operate at mains voltage. Therefore LED luminaires purpose designed for refrigerated display cases, with a high impact (IK) rating* and operating at a safe low voltage, should always be chosen on both safety and indeed ongoing cost of ownership grounds. NUALIGHT ION and ORION ranges are designed, constructed and certified to a high impact resistance of IK10* and IK08* respectively. In addition, all our luminaires operate at a low, touch safe, 24 volts. Their use will therefore provide safe, trouble-free operation and peace of mind within these close to customer areas. * IEC 62262 - Degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts (IK code) . The IK rating is an international numeric classification for the degree of protection provided by electrical equipment enclosures against impact. IK10 is the maximum rating achievable under the test standard, being resistance from steel drop-hammer apparatus, weighing 5kg, when released from a height of 0.4m. Huge energy and cost saving for European supermarket chain replacing fluorescent tubes with NUALIGHT LED for their display lighting. By choosing to retrofit our ION LED luminaires, this retailer has reduced the energy consumption and cost of their refrigerated case and dry shelf lighting by an impressive 68%. An action projected to save them in excess of €22,000 per store over the next 5 years, helping them meet their sustainability goals. This was achieved with a forecast return on their implementation cost at only 20 months. With the EU & UK ban on sales of linear fluorescent tubes in full effect since last September, any lamp stocks remaining in the wholesale supply-chain are expected to be fully depleted by Autumn. With this in mind, retailers are now looking to accelerate their LED retro-fit programs and avoid being left with displays that will simply not be maintainable. Here our customer decided to take prompt action to maintain lighting provision across their estate, whilst also realising significant ongoing energy and cost savings. Additionally they now benefit from employing the more impactful, long life, robust and safer display lighting NUALIGHT have provided them.
