Congratulations to the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) team for organizing the WELL Tokyo Summit last week! It was a splendid event with numerous insights shared around #healthybuildings #resilience #esg and #diversity Thank you too for inviting me to speak at the event and share about how we at uHoo have helped our clients create healthier, greener and more people-centric spaces. Some of the points that I learned from the event are: 1. Diversity is highly important in organizational resilience. 2. There is a blurring of lines of responsibilities among developers and tenants. 3. WELL Core supports tenants who wants to achieve WELL for interiors, which reduces their costs of achieving it. 4. Harmonization of standards will help investors assess properties better. 5. From a developer's perspective, the product they sell to the market needs to match what the market wants. 6. There is a clear flight to quality. Properties and buildings that are certified as green and healthy are clearly more in demand and have a premium attached to it. 7. WELL certified is not just certification but a better quality of life. 8. High vacancy increased conversations on health and wellbeing. Health and wellbeing is now a driving factor to reduce vacancy. 9. WELL is now the top KPI for ESG measurement, especially the S of ESG. It was also nice to hear the favorite company policies of the panelists . 1. Flexibility in working style, time and place - Kirara Washida (Woonerf Inc) 2. Company housing with preferential rates - Hide sawada (Shimizu Corporation) 3. Greenery outside of building with butterflies - Mariko Murata (Mori Building Co., Ltd.) 4. Movement inside buildings - Giovanni Cossu (CapitaLand) And much like any other event, the uHoo Aura would be running and checking the environment. The air quality was excellent throughout the event. The WELL Platinum certified building of Mori Building really lives up to its name. This is how buildings should be built. Kudos to Mori Building for a WELL-built building. It was also a pleasure reconnecting with the IWBI team and meeting new people passionate about making buildings greener and healthier. Looking forward to the summit in Sydney!
