Team #RehabGroup gave a powerful presentation to the AONTAS judging panel today, as part of our nomination for the #STARAwards2025 in the Learner Voice category. Our Public Affairs & Advocacy team, alongside several advocates from our services, detailed our Voter Education Programme which we launched last year in our RehabCare and National Learning Network services across the country. Our workshops were tailored so that they would highlight themes of self advocacy for people with disabilities and enable people to have their say and to find solutions to challenges when going through the registration and voting process. The name of the winning initiative will be announced as part of the STAR Awards ceremony in Croke Park on the 7th of March, during the AONTAS, the National Adult Learning Organisation Adult Learners’ Festival. Very well done to our team for their great work today, and to our fellow nominees! #ThriveAchieveShine #VoterEducation #StarAwards #Advocacy

#PhoneSafetyAwareness ~ Lots of insightful learnings today as Padraig from An Garda Síochána visited RehabCare Kilkenny to raise awareness about fraudulent messages and links that can be sent to mobile phones. There was a good group discussion from everyone after his talk and a group photo was taken to mark the event. #ThriveAchieveShine #Community #Inclusion #Safety #Kilkenny

⭐️ The very best of luck to our excellent team, including Joanne, Padraig, Hayleigh, and John, meeting the AONTAS #StarAwards judging panel today to present our shortlisted Voter Education Programme, aimed at amplifying the voices of people who use our services. As part of our highly successful programme, led by our Public Affairs and Advocacy team, participants are introduced to the concepts of advocacy in a personal and accessible manner, encouraged to make decisions for themselves and have a say in the issues that affect their lives. #ThriveAchieveShine #SoProud #Advocacy #VoterEducation AONTAS, the National Adult Learning Organisation

We have active and robust Advocacy Committees across our organisation, where members of our services come together to discuss issues of importance, both within our services, and on local and national levels. After a month of canvassing, public speaking, and election posters, the Advocacy Committee Election Day 2025 finally arrived in RehabCare Triogue Hub in Portlaoise. The votes were in and counting was swiftly underway. A huge thanks to Election Supervisor Mr. Jack Bracken for doing such an amazing job with the ballot. #ThriveAchieveShine #Advocacy #AdvocacyInAction #Portlaoise #Laois #Community #Support #Inclusion

Based on the Red Alert Wind Warning Storm for the entire country tomorrow, Friday January 24th, Rehab Group has made the following decisions for the safety and well-being of our employees, service users and students: All services that can close on Friday will do. In RehabCare, this will include all Day services, and most respite services. In some cases it will not be possible to close respite services fully, so this will be dealt with on a service by service basis. Home Support Services will also be planned for on a case by case basis. All NLN centres will close and move to remote learning. Rehab Enterprises sites will all close, and where people can work remotely, they should do so. For services that are essential and need to remain open, operational teams will put controls in place to ensure employees don't need to travel during the red alert times in their areas. It is important that all employees "stay in place" for the duration of the red warning. All office-based employees should work from home. Please take care and stay safe tomorrow, and heed all advice from Met Éireann. #StaySafe #StayIndoors #StormEowyn
