John Sisk & Son Ltd reposted this
I recently had the pleasure of working on a rewarding project with John Sisk & Son Ltd in Cork City, documenting some of their newly completed developments. One of the most striking parts of the project was tracing the history of the houses built by the company's founder, John Sisk, in 1896 for his employees. Appalled by the poor living conditions in the city at the time, he took it upon himself to build better homes. It is a powerful reminder of how issues surrounding housing and living standards still resonate in today's world.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁, 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺 In the UK, one of our key focuses is building high rise residential developments, such as the one we are undertaking currently for Moda at Great Charles Street in Birmingham. As we have recently passed the halfway mark of the programme, work across the site is busy. Block A has its core up to level 31 (of a total of 39) with the slabs up to level 27. Throughout the block, a variety of works are taking place - from continued façade work to plates and brackets, through to 1st/2nd fix, joinery, lift installation and kitchens. In block B, the concrete slabs are up to level 15. Additional works include frames, windows, stickwork and more. Elsewhere on the city centre site, works on the rectangular lower level block C are well advanced and current work includes insulation installation, work on the staircase and the lift installation. Our fantastic on-site team and sub contractors continue to progress this impressive new addition to Birmingham’s skyline. #WeAreSisk #HighRise #Construction #BTR #Birmingham Paul Brown Steven McGee Alan Rodger Kris Wadley MCIOB Steve Rogers Jonathan Stackhouse

𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁: 𝗜𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 If you have been failing to get to grips with the icy conditions lately, spare a thought for our Head of Quality, Brian Dillon, who will be representing Ireland as team captain at the IISA (International Ice Swimming Association) World Championships 2025 taking place next week in Molveno, Italy. Ice Swimming is swimming in water temperature of 5.0C / 41.0F or lower, unassisted, wearing one standard swimming costume, one pair of goggles, and one standard swimming silicon cap. IISA first introduced the Ice Mile as its ultimate achievement. We wish Brian and the Irish team the very best of luck! #WeAreSisk #People #Culture
