𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 This week is Open Doors 2025 and we have sites across the UK supporting Build UK to encourage the next generation to choose a career in construction. Today a group of 15 school children visited our Etihad Stadium North Stand Expansion site in Manchester. They listened to a range of presentations, including a 4D model demonstration and what a career in construction offers, had a Lego challenge to learn about how sites operate plus experienced views across the site in person with the help of of our colleagues. Speakers and attendees included Paul Brown, our CEO, Alan Rodger, MD of our UK North and Infrastructure business, in addition to Build UK’s Deputy Chief Executive, Jo Fautley and Janette Barrett, Senior National Account Manager at the Department of Work and Pensions. Paul Brown said: “Today has been great in showcasing to the young people who came today that the construction industry is ultimately good fun. Of course it has its really serious sides, but you can have fun on projects that is unique to the sector. If you like being outside or want a challenging career, this industry is fantastic. I hope we inspired those who came today and continue to do so during the rest of Open Doors week.” We have site events taking place this week in York, Birmingham, London, Manchester again and more to support the week further. #WeAreSisk #OpenDoors #OpenDoors25 #BuildUK #Careersinconstruction Steven McGee Sean Fitzpatrick Carl Brierley Christina Nichols Katherine Bollard-Wilkes Sarah-Jane Davies Rob Oxley Chartered FCIPD Kathryn Stevens, Assoc. A great St Patrick’s Day in London. A big shout out to Ger Hayes’s team for putting such a huge effort into making this a special day for the children (either participating or spectating). Well done Larry O Leary for being the energy behind the parade. 👏🏻👏🏻

Some photos from our Low Carbon Demonstrator Event. It was a fantastic afternoon, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and having the opportunity to address the event. This is an exciting time for low-carbon concrete, and I believe we are on the cusp of making significant strides forward. Concrete is one of the largest contributors to global CO2 emissions. Over 20 years ago, I was conducting post-graduate research at Trinity College Dublin, on concrete rheology—the science of the flow of concrete. Back then, it was a conversation killer when anyone asked what I did! 😄 Fast forward to today, at Sisk, we have been committed to reducing carbon in our projects for many years. One of our key initiatives was the creation of an internal Low Carbon Concrete Working Group. Last week, we gathered with industry colleagues to celebrate the completion of our low-carbon demonstrator at Wembley, a tremendous leap forward in this endeavour. We have produced a demonstrator building using the world’s most versatile building material while cutting approximately 70% of its embodied carbon. This innovation reduces our carbon footprint and sets a new standard for environmentally responsible construction practices. The Innovate UK funding opportunity emerged in 2024 was a perfect fit for our strategy, focusing on innovation and collaboration. By building demonstrators from new materials, we can explore and learn from these experiences. This approach not only builds confidence within the industry but also allows our design teams and customers to envision a sustainable future. In the past, innovation in construction was often kept secret. But this initiative truly embraces collaboration. We have seen first-hand that when we collaborate, we can achieve so much more. The potential reductions in global emissions brought by these new technologies offer substantial benefits. Each consortium partner has played a crucial role in bringing this initiative to life, and it’s through this combined expertise that we are able to push the boundaries of sustainable construction. FYI, if anyone is wondering why I've included a photo of me in a white coat holding a weird contraption... Its a mock-up of a handheld rheology tool that I researched for three years. Made out of materials found in the skip, a 4" drainage pipe and some broom handles. I gave it a lick of paint, took this snazzy photo, and made a pitch booklet to seek funding for my research. As a young entrepreneur, I thought I could make millions out of my invention! 😄 If only Dragons' Den existed back then. I learned a lot, moved away from research, but never lost my passion for concrete. Ecocem Global John Reddy Capital Concrete Ltd Jack. Trials of Ecocem’s low-carbon cement technology, ACT, have been successfully completed at Wembley Park, London, as part of a demonstrator project funded by Innovate UK 👏 The project, led by John Sisk & Son Ltd with a consortium including Ramboll, Loughborough University, Creagh Concrete, Capital Concrete Ltd, and BRE, collaborated on this pioneering, scalable, low-carbon demonstrator, marking the world-first application of Ecocem's ACT technology in the UK, with initial test results showing over 70% carbon savings compared to traditional concrete. 🏗️ The two-storey demonstrator project used a range of different construction methodologies and concrete mixes all created using ACT. The structure contained all elements of a typical building including floors, stairs, columns and walls. In each case, the concrete made with ACT met the design specification for each application. 🏗️ ACT is globally scalable; it can be produced at almost all existing cement plants without significant investments or modifications and does not require major changes in construction practices. ACT requires little additional cost for cement plants to produce and no changes to existing cement plant work practices. 🏗️ If adapted widely, ACT can halve the amount CO2 associated with cement production - automatically saving approximately 50% of emissions or nearly a billion tonnes of global CO2 emissions. #LowCarbonCement #Cleantech #Innovation #Construction #LowCarbon | John Reddy | Innovate UK Contracts for Innovation | UK Research and Innovation | Barry Ryan | Sarah-Jane Pisciotti | Aidan King | Maria Estrada

The low-carbon demonstrator project received £500,000 from Innovate UK funding as part of its 'Contracts for Innovation' to pioneer the use of ACT, Ecocem UK’s low-carbon concrete technology in a structure, which is the first of its kind.
