At Sony, we strive to deliver inclusive technologies and to improve the accessibility of products and services to create a world where everyone feels included. There are at least 2.2 billion people globally who have some form of visual impairment (World Health Organization, 2023). Today is #WorldSightDay, and at Sony, we are proud to have implemented accessibility features in our cameras designed to support people with low vision to capture the world and open up creativity to a wide range of users, across age, ability or environment. 👁️📷 More information on World Sight Day from The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eNGA4Dz3 Sony Europe #Sustainability #Accessibility #SonyCares [Image description: Image one consists of 3 photos in a montage of people using Sony cameras with the World Sight Day’s “Love your eyes” banner at the bottom].   [Image description: Image two and image three consist of 8 photos in a montage of people using Sony cameras, including Sony’s DSC-HX99 camera with QD Laser Retissa Neoviewer viewfinder].

This year World Mental Health Day theme is "Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace", so our Hungarian branch recently organized an invigorating office yoga session, UnitYoga, to prioritize wellbeing and mental health in the workplace, led by our colleague Luca, a certified yoga instructor. 💪 The session provided a moment of relaxation and rejuvenation, helping our team reduce stress and improve overall well-being, strengthening the team and community bonds. Kudos to our Hungarian branch for prioritizing employees' mental health and well-being. Your dedication inspires us all! 🙌💚 Sony Europe #Sustainability #Wellbeing #WMHD2024

On October 10th, Sony Europe joins the world in marking World Mental Health Day and raising awareness on mental health. 🧠🌿   As we navigate an ever-evolving world, it's essential to remember that our mental wellbeing is just as crucial as our physical health. We are committed to fostering a workplace culture where mental health concerns can be openly discussed and addressed, ensuring everyone feels supported. This year’s theme, "Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace," emphasises the need to integrate mental health into our daily lives.   Let’s break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and create a more compassionate workplace where everyone can thrive! 💪🏼   #WorldMentalHealthDay #SonyEurope #Sustainability #Wellbeing #WMHD2024

Last September, representatives from our Property & Facility Management Team enjoyed a day volunteering, along the banks of the Basingstoke Canal.  They were joined by colleagues from the wider Project team, Indurent Lysander and UMC Architects, who have been working together to plan and deliver the construction and build of the new Basingstoke office. 🛠   Delighted by a beautiful autumn morning, although chilly – the sun and hard work of pruning overgrown saplings soon provided some warmth. 🔥 The canal volunteers organised the event with expertise and ensured we had all the tools and projective equipment needed. They were also incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the canal – which added to the importance of maintaining such a glorious stretch of waterway. Thanks to all of you for the great work and dedication to maintain and preserve such a great place! ❤ Sony Europe #Sustainability #SocialContribution

Kids in Focus is a Sony Europe seasoned program aimed at inspiring young people across Europe in the art of photography. Through hands-on educational workshops led by professional photographers and specialists, we are igniting a passion for photography in the hearts of the next generation. 📸 During late August, our Sony Hungary team organized a two-day Photography and Art Therapy Workshop in partnership with the Hungarian Down Foundation, which supports the development and independent living of children, young people, and adults with intellectual disabilities. They provide a wide range of activities, including talent development, camps, family training, and photography therapy sessions.   During the first day of the workshop, our team presented to the 10 participants, including many who were new to photography, sharing the foundational understanding and providing them with cameras for the participants to explore and unleash their creativity. The participants enjoyed a hands-on experience, learning the techniques and skills needed to capture stunning portraits and explored a session themed around 1970s black and white portrait photography. We are pleased to be a part of this educational journey, empowering young minds to express themselves through the art of photography.   Thanks to the talented participants, their families, and the Hungarian Down Foundation for this wonderful and inspiring opportunity, as well as our dedicated Sony team for leading this beautiful initiative. ✨ #SonyEurope #Sustainability #SocialContribution #Diversity

📣 We are excited to share that the paper: “A universal framework for inclusive 15-minute cities” by our Sony CSL (Rome) researchers Matteo Bruno, Hygor Piaget Melo, Bruno Campanelli, led by Vittorio Loreto has been recently published on #NatureCities, one of the most prestigious and respected platforms in the scientific community, and gained the new cover of this month! 🎉 Also, The Guardian (https://lnkd.in/es-EgR5D) wrote about our research, which proposes that urban areas can operate more efficiently, fairly, and sustainably when vital everyday services and essential amenities are accessible within a 15-minute distance of walking or biking. The study analyses a vast number of cities worldwide and finds that, within the framework of the 15-minute city, the accessibility to services by citizens is highly heterogeneous within and across cities, meaning that urban areas present a high level of inequalities given mainly by the poor or difficult accessibility to services by citizens. 🚶🏼♂️ 📌 Have a look at the paper here: https://lnkd.in/dyCr434J Congratulations, team!!! 💥 Sony Europe #Research #Technology

Have you ever participated in an international Potluck with 19 different country recipes represented? 😮🗺 For Sony Global Diversity Month, our EUDC team, in Oslo, arranged an original Potluck where members were invited to contribute a dish that reflects their cultural heritage or a cherished family recipe. This event provided a great chance to explore new cuisines, share personal stories, and build connections with colleagues through a shared appreciation of delicious food and cultural traditions. 🧆 Moreover, to honour their traditions, they celebrated their diverse backgrounds and cultural heritage through fashion! They were encouraged to come to work dressed in outfits that represented their cultural identities, wearing them with pride and sharing the traditional stories behind their attire. 🥻 Each month at the Oslo office, a cultural event is celebrated and on that day, the Indian festival of Onam was celebrated with the creation of a beautiful floral carpet on the ground, an activity known as Pookkalam. 🏵 Well done team, and thanks for sharing your uniqueness and traditions in the office! On the celebrations of Sony Diversity Month, Italian colleagues from Milan, Rome and Trento offices joined together in an activity organised for us by Fabbrica di Lampadine to create their City of Creativity. 💡 After a brief introduction and led by Giampaolo Rossi, a communication, leadership and management trainer, the team split into five groups to build each district according to the neighbourhood guidelines to create a cohesive, sustainable and unique city. 🏙 Our architects (Oops, colleagues!) picked up paper, scissors, tape, markers, and cardboard sheets and built "Sony City", manifesting the sense of "CommUNITY" and representing Sony's values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 🖍🏳🌈 After an engaging speech from Giampaolo about generational and cultural models in the DE&I journey, the team ended the day with an informal aperitif to celebrate together the experience results. Thanks to Giampaolo and Fabbrica di Lampadine for having us, and the participants for creating the Sony City! Sony Europe #SonyDiversityMonth #Sustainability #Diversity
