We are Ireland's largest independent, not-for-profit mental health service.
About us
When Jonathan Swift, Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral and noted author, founded St Patrick’s over 270 years ago, he did so because he recognised that people with mental illness needed a specialist service to provide care, treatment and a voice. Today, St Patrick's Mental Health Services (SPMHS) is Ireland’s largest, independent, not-for-profit mental health provider and aspires to be the recognised leader in: the provision of quality mental health care the promotion of mental health awareness the protection of the rights and integrity of those suffering from mental illness. Now known as St Patrick’s University Hospital through its association with Trinity College Dublin, the hospital is driven by the same vision, energy and determination first demonstrated by Dean Swift in 1745. SPMHS is a registered charity (Registered Charity Number (RCN): 20000370). SPMHS has community guidelines in place for our social media spaces: https://www.stpatricks.ie/about-us/policies-and-publications/community-guidelines

We're launching a brand new podcast to mark World Mental Health Day 2024. Mental Health Conversations is a new series that focuses on mental health nursing - made for nurses, by nurses. This podcast series will bring you inside the doors of St Patrick's Mental Health Services, meeting nurses from across our services, and some of the people who have spent time in their care. The role of the mental health nurse involves many things, but, at the core, it’s all about helping people to get better. In our first episode, a psychiatric nurse describes her job and what she finds rewarding about her role; we hear a powerful story from one of our former services about the critical role nurses played in her recovery; and we go on a tour of a mental health hospital to learn about the service user journey and day-to-day life on the wards. Learn more and listen to our first episode here: https://lnkd.in/gjRcmEH2 #WorldMentalHealthDay #Nursing #Podcast #MentalHealthCare #MentalHealthConversations
