Earlier this month created the Virgin Media Playhouse! Part playground, part science experiment, it was custom-built to help people understand the state of mind that is “play”. Play is more than just fun and different personality types experience play in a range of different ways. Our playhouse aimed to help reveal what play personality people where so that they can bring more play into their everyday. ⚡ #ItsPlaytime #VirginMediaIreland

We are delighted to announce that construction is complete of our new Virgin Media Wireless Site on Three Rock Mountain. The new 25m mast is serviced via Fibre and is powered by 32 Solar Panels with a potential to generate more than 13Kw of power to run the equipment on site. Additionally, our B2B Access Team have just connected three new HeaNET Customers via the site. The new Three Rock Mountain Virgin Media Wireless Site with visibility over all of Dublin City and the greater Dublin area, is a great example of how our Planning & Engineering team works tirelessly to expand and upgrade our network, while ensuring that we continue to work together for a Low Carbon Future. #Connecting4Good

On Friday, a group of our colleagues and their children visited the GLAS Community Garden in Blanchardstown run by the Global Action Plan. They spent two hours tidying up the garden, removing the weeds and planting new organic crops. It was also a great opportunity to learn more about organic gardening and supporting diversity in our own gardens. The GLAS Community Garden is a centre for social inclusion, where everyone is welcome, and we’re happy that we could lend a hand in supporting such a great project. Big thanks to Hans, Lee and Emer from Global Action Plan Ireland for sharing your knowledge with us!

Last week, some of our colleagues had the pleasure of attending the Young Social Innovators Awards at the Aviva Stadium to present the ‘Digital Innovators Award’ sponsored by Virgin Media to the winning team, ‘Class Connections’. ‘Class Connections’ is a prototype for an app designed to maintain contact with students who experience extended absences from school. The team’s inspiration for the project was their classmate Daniel, who often misses long periods of school because of his condition. By facilitating connections with friends, teachers, and school staff, the app aims to alleviate feelings of isolation and anxiety associated with returning to school after an absence. Aiming to recognise young people’s positive application of digital technology for social good, The ‘Digital Innovators Award’ promotes digital well-being. Once again, we’d like to say congratulations to the winning team – we can’t wait to see how your project develops! #Connecting4Good

On Friday morning, a group of our colleagues met on Bull Island for a beach clean. Together, in just over two hours, they collected 23 kg of rubbish of all sorts – bottle caps, fishing nets, cups, cans and even a hanger. We’d like to thank Aisling and Áine from Clean Coasts for making the beach clean possible and sharing their knowledge about the negative impact of plastic pollution on the marine environment and what we can do to prevent it.   #Connecting4Good

For the last two weeks, we have hosted a sustainable Clothes Swap Pop-up in our Ballymount office. Organised with The Sustainable Life School, the Pop-Up gave our colleagues the opportunity to explore the idea of circular fashion and give the clothes they don’t wear anymore a new life. Today, we wrapped up the Clothes Swap Pop-up with a sustainable fashion workshop where we learned about the impact of fast fashion on the environment and the ways to educate and encourage our employees to make more sustainable fashion choices. A big thank you to Natalie and Diane from the Sustainable Life School for their support. #Connecting4Good

After 5 weeks spent in our Macken House office, our 10 TY students from Marino College, Larkin College and St. Joseph’s Fairview have finished their P-TECH work placement with us. P-TECH is an education initiative in Dublin’s North East Inner City that combines secondary school with elements of further education and workplace experience. Last Friday, at the P-TECH Showcase event at National College of Ireland, the students had the opportunity to present their work placement projects, and to talk about what they’ve learnt from the work experience. Big well done to Ali, Aliyah, Alex, Eleanor, Zofia, Gem, Nyamka, Reece, Kyle and Jamie, we’re so proud of you! It was great to have you with us and we’ll miss the buzz you brought to our office. And to all our Virgin Media colleagues who volunteered to support and mentor the students, thank you for your engagement and passion! #Connecting4Good #wearePTECH #skills2030 Business in the Community Ireland

We’re enjoying the buzz in the office with 10 TY students from Marino College, Larkin College, and St. Joseph’s Fairview on their 5-week P-TECH work placement with Virgin Media.   The students work on two projects and are supported by our Virgin Media colleagues who help with mentoring and providing skills-based workshops on everything from Project Management, Marketing and Budgeting to Video Editing and more.   With 2 weeks already completed, we’re looking forward to supporting the students over the remaining 3 weeks as they develop even more new skills. And we’re learning lots from them too!   Welcome to Virgin Media Aaliyah, Eleanor, Nyamka, Zofia, Ali, Gem, Jamie, Alex, Kyle, and Reece!   #Connecting4Good #wearePTECH #skills2030 Business in the Community Ireland
