This one is for the stationery 'connoisseurs' among you. I rated each marker and pen I got from Neuland GmbH & Co. KG. I could see several of my architect friends fawn over a couple of the markers and lens in this little stash.. https://lnkd.in/eC-Q7JFm

It's always good thing to introduce a regular cadence of work ceremonies.... erm meetings... erm events. Or is it? 🤔

Helping People Do Their Best Thinking

I was reflecting on those quotes from Priya Parker's great book when thinking about Scrum meetings (sorry - Scrum Events). I see a lot of them scheduled in a cycle, Daily Scrum (every day), Sprint Retrospective (every second week), ... When meetings happen on cadence, they quickly start following the same pattern of interactions. Consistency reduces complexity and dampens creativity. It turns meetings into rituals that have to be followed, rather than opportunities for meaningful conversations.

Most companies still reward people who work long hours over people who work smart. We are biased to appreciate things that we can measure easily and immediately instead of things that produce real impact long term. For similar reasons people challenging a culture of overwork are often penalized. What strategies have you seen working that allow companies to really embrace a culture of sustainable pace?

Looking for scaringly creative icebreakers ideas? Will you survive this invasion of zombies? 🧟♂️

Facilitation Coach | Workshop Facilitator @AJ&Smart

This icebreaker is so simple to run and alwaysssss has people laughing! It's called "Zombie Apocalypse" 🧟♀️ 🧟♂️ Here's how to run it: 1. Divide the group into teams of 3-4 people. 2. Announce that in 20 minutes, a zombie apocalypse will hit. Each team has just 10 minutes to decide on 3 items they can grab from a shopping mall to survive. 3. Encourage teams to think strategically and creatively about which items will give them the best chance of surviving the apocalypse. 4. Once the time is up, have each team present their items and explain their survival strategy. Why is this activity great? It's such a fun way for people to get to know each other while also shifting into a more creative, problem-solving mode. Plus, it's very funny to see what people come up with when the pressure is on! 😂 You should give it a try in your next team meeting or workshop. What would your 3 items be?? Let me know in the comments.

When they ask you to jump, before you do it think about whether that's the right thing to do in that moment or maybe it's best to wall or roll or just stand.

Don't always nod and go along with what they are asking of you. Being a professional means that you're willing to take a stand for what matters. It's easy to jump when they ask you to jump, but maybe they are better served by someone who doesn't jump but suggests them to do something else entirely. Being a professional means doing the hard work that will make a difference, even if settling for the easy thing they're asking for that won't make a difference would be so much easier.
