JOB TITLE: Engineering Manager

REPORTS TO: Operations Director

Location: Kerrygold Park

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the Site Engineering Strategy in collaboration with the Site Leadership Team
  • Lead and positively represent the engineering function and team
  • Develop the engineering capability to drive a culture of reliability and defect elimination
  • Ownership & control of department budget expenditure in line with targets
  • Maintain strong relationships with all key interfaces
  • Ensure reporting on all key KPI’s with corrective actions to address issues
  • Support the H&S strategy within Ornua through proactive participation and involvement
  • Be an active member of the Site Leadership Team
  • Lead and initiate continuous improvement programs and projects including the development and optimization of operation and maintenance procedures for multiple systems on site.
  • Full control of contractors working to, and adhering with policies and procedures.
  • Implement and drive full utilization of a CMMS system to enable engineering improvements and sustainability
  • Develop & manage an engineering planning process for effective PPM execution on a rolling 52 week
  • Ensure site services/utilities are maintained and deliver to required performance levels Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the factory including the engineering office and workshop
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Global Engineering Standards, Statutory inspection requirements, machinery safety and Guidance on suitability
  • Provide technical and behavioural coaching to peers, apprentices, and front-line production colleagues
  • Be the technical resource for projects and technical specifications
  • Develop, implement, maintain and regularly review a strategic development program of the site infrastructure, process and production capability, developing capital investment plans as required.
  • Providing oversight on the project management of process equipment and manufacturing
  • Key active stakeholder for increased digitalisation projects on the manufacturing floor ensure that all new technologies are embedded and embraced by the entire site teams
  • All aspects of Engineering on site will fall under the remit of the Engineering Manager.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • The likely candidate will have a keen desire to work and train in a high speed, automated butter making facility and to add value to both the organization and engineering team
  • Ability to drive performance, seeking root cause to business problems and design and deliver practical solutions to resolve Experience of leading and managing multi skilled technicians and support engineers in the manufacturing environment, to include performance management, objective setting, coaching/mentoring, development and prioritization
  • Bring a sense of urgency to situations, demonstrate an active approach, be willing to get involved in order to increase the pace and achieve goals and objectives
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Food Science with proven record of leading a team in achieving set targets
  • Ideally > 5 years’ experience in a Leadership role
  • Technical knowledge and ability
  • Practical, hands on experience and in-depth understanding of common mechanical and electrical systems
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing teams across a shift work environment
  • Exposure to and knowledge of Lean manufacturing
  • Demonstrable experience of managing budgets & cost centres
  • Organised individual who can mentor and grow skills within the Engineering Team
  • Ability to respond quickly to a changing production environment
