General Manager - Shackleton Museum

Action Recruitment are exclusively recruiting for a General Manager for Shackleton Museum on behalf of Athy Heritage Company.

This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to come on board prior to launch next year.

As a permanent General Manager, you will be at the helm of an ambitious refurbishment project, playing a pivotal role in creating a world-class attraction dedicated to the legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton. Based at Emily Square, Athy, Co. Kildare, you'll be entrusted with leading a team and shaping the museum into a symbol of human endurance and polar exploration.

You will develop and maintain strong relationships with the various stakeholders and community organisations etc and will ensure an exceptional visitor experience.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Lead the transformation of Athy Heritage Centre into one of the world's leading polar museums, showcasing the extraordinary legacy of Ernest Shackleton.
• Manage and deliver engaging, large-scale corporate events that captivate audiences and cement the museum's status as a national and international reference point for polar exploration.
• Oversee the execution of proactive contract management and exhibit exceptional financial acumen to ensure the successful operation and growth of the museum.

Preferred Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in a commercial or management role, demonstrating a strong track record in large-scale and corporate events, as well as proactive contract management.
• Proven expertise in sales and digital marketing, coupled with sound financial acumen and experience in managing budgets to achieve business objectives.
• A natural leader with a solid ability to motivate and guide teams, coupled with exceptional planning and coordination skills for delivering an exceptional visitor experience at the museum.

Ideal candidates should have experience working within a tourism attraction or hospitality venue at management level, have a strong understanding of tourism in Ireland and be exceptionally competent in sales and marketing.
