As the US presidential race enters its final days, disinformation surges online, flooding social media with fake images and videos, false claims, and deepfakes. 🗣️ Election discourse in the past week included:  ❗A network of fake profiles on X claiming to be foreign nationals who have illegally voted in the upcoming election, showing marked ballots next to foreign passports.  ❗A fake video of a man destroying mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania, tearing out votes cast for Donald Trump. ❗A deepfake video of a “former student” of VP nominee Tim Waltz, accusing him of sexual harassment. The deepfake turned out to originate from Russian influence actors.
