🌟 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 🌟 I recently participated in a fascinating event organized by Hackaveret - Israel's Center for Social Innovation (הכוורת) - the Kayama - Centre for Social Innovation and Impact Entrepreneurship‏. The topic: "AI and the Social World - What's the Story?" At this event, we delved deep into the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for social entrepreneurship and systemic change. I had the privilege of being part of an engaging panel on AI and Impact, together with Gilad Ivry the CEO and co-founder of Qualifire and Shuki Gur from eToro, where we discussed: • The connection between AI and social impact • Opportunities AI opens for social action and change • Challenges, biases, and ethical difficulties in the field The event also featured insightful discussions, including a keynote by Tomer Simon, PhD, Chief Scientist at Microsoft Israel R&D. It was inspiring to see so many brilliant minds come together to explore how we can harness AI for the greater good. Let's continue working with each other to promote responsible and beneficial use of AI for the benefit of society as a whole. California Governor Gavin Newsom just vetoed the “AI Kill Switch Bill” (SB 1047). Some say it’s a win for innovation, others warn it opens Pandora’s box. Both are right. On one side, letting AI develop without strangling it in red tape accelerates progress—especially for open-source projects. On the other, unchecked AI poses real risks: bias, harmful outputs, regulatory breaches, and eroding public trust. So how do we approach this? 1. Understand the stakes – Overregulation could kill innovation. No regulation? We risk AI running unchecked and causing real damage. 2. Consider the long-term – Strangling AI early on stunts progress. But ignoring the risks could lead to outcomes we can’t undo. 3. Balance innovation with accountability – We need guardrails that evolve with the tech, not blanket bans or free-for-alls. Here’s the reality no one is talking about: Any regulation without personal accountability is just noise. Fines don’t matter to companies with deep pockets and big ambitions. They’ll pay the cost and keep going. In fact, it creates an even bigger moat for the giants. If the only stakes are fines, there’s always someone with enough capital and enough motivation to push the limits—and go bigger than anyone ever imagined. The bigger the penalties, the bigger the incentive to play recklessly at scale. If we’re serious about preventing AI from spiraling out of control, we need regulations that hold people, not just companies, accountable. What’s your take? Let’s discuss.

Some thoughts regarding the advanced reasoning capabilities: - Mostly Engineering effort: The focus is on engineering breakthroughs like self reflection (i.e hidden reasoning tokens) rather than simply increasing model size or parameter count. - Magic happens at Inference-time: There's a shift from training-time alignment to inference-time, which means a very noticeable added latency. - Generic, cross-cutting concern: While strawberry demonstrates impressive capabilities, it's generic alignment and safety mechanisms can’t match the effectiveness of solutions that are customized to specific business use cases. This is where Qualifire comes in.
