    120 Years… That’s how long it took Noah!  As we enter Parashat Noah, we’re reminded not only of the incredible resilience that Noah demonstrated but also the courage it took to follow a vision no one else understood. For 120 years, Noah worked on building the ark, knowing it was his purpose, even as those around him mocked and doubted him People questioned his purpose, laughed at his efforts, and didn’t see the meaning in his work… but Noah pressed on, trusting in the bigger picture and believing in the importance of his journey, even when it seemed the world was against him In both life and business, many of us have faced similar moments We pursue an idea, a vision, or a goal that others may not yet see or understand. Friends, colleagues, or even the market itself may question its value Noah’s experience reminds us that true resilience means staying focused on our path even when our efforts are met with doubt or when progress feels slow By the way… Noah’s journey was not just about survival but about preparation, commitment, and the courage to embrace the unknown.     With so much uncertainty in the market today, it could benefit us to think back to the era of the global pandemic, where the stock market presented an opportunity for those who were ready to deal with massive uncertainty During that time, my personal journey of navigating the stock market helped lead me to some significant achievements I learned a lot during that time, and here are my three key takeaways from that experience: 1️⃣ Anticipate and act - As the pandemic swept across the globe, it was clear that it would impact every country's economy. The pattern was evident… as each country went into lockdown, their stock markets crashed I identified this trend early on and bought options, betting on the market to go down. This strategy proved successful as I rode the 'red wave' during the market crash, making a healthy profit 2️⃣ Research and invest - Post market crash, I turned my attention to individual stocks. I noticed a global shortage of chips and identified Nvidia, a chip-making company, as a potential investment. After some research, I found that Nvidia was on the rise, while its competitor, Intel, had remained stagnant I invested in NVIDIA, and it turned out to be a great decision! 3️⃣ Keep it simple - My #investment strategy is largely influenced by Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger's philosophy of simplicity. As Buffett famously stated, "I never get into something I don't understand." This approach led me to invest in companies with straightforward business models and a high likelihood of being around in the next 30 years. This simple yet effective strategy has served me well Investing during the pandemic was an intense experience, but it also offered unique opportunities. The key was to stay logical, anticipate market trends, and silence the sometimes-deafening background noise. It was a period of high risk, but the rewards were equally high Investing is not about outsmarting others; it's about understanding the market and making informed decisions.     A startup that I am excited to invest in is Conext, a fast-growing company that's transforming the concrete industry They're taking a traditionally old-fashioned sector and digitizing it for efficiency and sustainability Their #technology includes a sensor placed in concrete trucks that performs real-time data analysis on the concrete mixture. This allows for constant monitoring and adjustments, ensuring the mixture remains at its highest quality from the plant to the construction site Their solution tackles two major issues in this traditional industry: First, it reduces the overuse of cement, which is both the most expensive and most polluting component of concrete Second, it provides immediate feedback on the strength of the concrete, a process that traditionally takes 30 days By turning concrete trucks into smart trucks, Conext is putting control back into the hands of the plant operators, reducing waste, and increasing efficiency They've already secured agreements with major concrete suppliers in Israel and are making inroads into the European market. Their business model is based on a monthly subscription, making it an affordable solution for most companies Also, one of the founders, Nadav Politi, was Haredi until the age of 19… which shows that this background can bring a unique perspective and aid in building a successful business in any industry They've raised $3 million so far and are now looking to expand rapidly To learn more about this company, and how they’re transforming the concrete industry, click below!     If you want to achieve world-class results, you need to envision the end in mind This post by the always excellent Rubén D. covers Paul Graham's advice to founders in Y Combinator… how the end goal of a startup journey is not always 100% defined The key is to stay flexible and adaptable If you believe you're headed in the right direction, pursue it, but don't get too fixated on a precise end picture that it would hinder your progress However, this approach differs when it comes to deep tech. With deep tech, the end product must be clearly envisioned. Take Elon Musk's recent robot, for instance. The design and aesthetics could have varied, but the vision was clear - a robot capable of doing anything a human can do The same applies to SpaceX. The vision was a reusable rocket. Whether it lands on the ground, in a claw, or sideways, the end goal remains the same…. In deep tech, the product vision is non-negotiable. Styles and particulars can change, but the core product must remain constant. Another example, Tesla is an electric car. It can be a sports car, a family car, or a private car, but it must be electric While Graham's advice is valuable for most #startups, I believe that deep tech requires a different approach Flexibility is key, but the end product vision must remain constant What do you think?     When we think of a #founder, we often think of a passionate individual who starts a company, leads it to success, and then moves on to their next endeavor But there's one person who is redefining what it means to be a founder - Elon Musk Musk is not just a founder He's a serial #entrepreneur, juggling multiple ventures simultaneously, and what at times, seems impossibly What sets him apart is his unbelievable ability to execute. It's not just about his ideas, but his ability to put them into action and make them wildly successful The odds of running multiple companies, all potentially worth billions, and consistently dominating the headlines, are incredibly low Yet, Musk is doing it (And has been doing this for many years now) Whether you're a fan of his or not, it's impossible to deny his impact. He's defining our era, pushing the boundaries of what's even possible from a business and tech perspective In a recent post, noted investor Paul Graham wrote about the importance of flexibility as a founder. However, Musk seems to be the complete opposite of this argument! He's known for his persistence and his deep tech ventures, which require years of research and cannot pivot as easily as a social app or other tech startups And yet, despite the noise and the headlines, he remains undeterred, and is not influenced by the ups and downs of the stock market or public opinion… he's focused on his vision and committed to making it a reality This guy embodies the concept of 'founder mode'. He's always in the middle of everything, never settling into a comfortable corporate role At a recent Y Combinator conference, Airbnb founder Brian Chesky spoke about the importance of staying in 'founder mode', even when your company has grown into a large corporation. Musk exemplifies this mindset. He's never content to rest on his laurels or bask in past successes. He's always pushing forward aggressively So, what can we learn from Elon Musk? It's about making a decision and committing to it 1000%   I’ll write that point again, because it’s that important… 1000% commitment It's about never getting comfortable, always pushing your limits, and staying in 'founder mode'.     As we reflect during this time of year, particularly around Yom Kippur, a powerful concept from Jewish tradition called teshuva resonates deeply with the process of personal and professional growth While often translated as repentance, teshuva truly means “return” - a return to G-d, our essence, and our purpose This idea of teshuva teaches us that personal growth is more than just correcting mistakes… It’s about recognizing the gap between who we are today and who we can become, and ultimately returning to the divine path that G-d has set for us. Whether in life or business, we all experience moments where we realize that we can do more, where we can be more That realization sparks the drive to break through our current boundaries and reach for something greater In the same way that teshuva is a journey of returning to our higher selves and reconnecting with G-d, entrepreneurship can be seen as a path of teshuva in the professional realm #Entrepreneurs, especially those transitioning from traditional roles or jobs, experience a powerful internal shift. It's not just about moving from an employee mindset to becoming a business owner; it's about awakening to a larger vision of what you can create in the world. This leap requires breaking free from the comfort of what you know - and leaving the stability of a paycheck for the uncertainty of pursuing your own venture Similar to teshuva, which is a deeply transformative process between the individual and G-d, becoming an entrepreneur involves stepping into the unknown with faith in your abilities and in the path that G-d has laid before you During Yom Kippur and the 10 Days of Teshuva, we are encouraged to return to our essence, to G-d, and to the core of who we are. This mirrors the entrepreneurial journey in reconnecting with the bigger purpose behind what you do and why you do it. It’s not just about business success; it’s about fulfilling the deeper potential that G-d has given you, but you may not have fully realized yet The lesson here extends to everyone: personal or professional, we are all on a journey of self-realization, of breaking free from limiting beliefs and stepping into our true potential that G-d intends for us Whether you're working on yourself, your business, or both, remember that true transformation isn’t about fixing what's broken, but about evolving into something greater. Just as teshuva allows us to return to a deeper connection with G-d and our true selves, entrepreneurship invites us to connect with a higher purpose and vision for our work Take this time to reflect on where you are today, where G-d wants you to be, and where you want to go.
