In Sound On Sound magazine’s How I Got That Sound feature by Joe Matera (November 2024), Torsten Kinsella shared the meticulous process behind the layered rhythm guitar tones on “Falling Leaves.” Multi-amp setups, precision mic placement, and seamless phase alignment with Auto-Align 2 ensured every mic captured the fullest, punchiest guitar sound. The mix was further refined with Pi, delivering cohesion across amps for a sound that’s just as impactful in mono as it is in stereo. “I used Auto-Align to perfectly phase-align the mics on each amp setup, blending them into one cohesive sound.
