Got away from my spreadsheets for a day and visited the Henderson Behavioral Health Community Mental Health Center and its Crisis Stabilization Unit treating psychiatric patients in Florida. I gained firsthand insights as nurse practitioners Sharon Sarig and Marcia Binion shared the daily dilemmas of schizophrenia patient care and got acquainted with Tardive Dyskinesia therapies with the kind help of nurse practitioner Jessica M. DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC. This experience not only highlighted the importance of aligning our financial strategies with clinical needs but also underscored our commitment to delivering the best available treatments. Our final stop for the day was Passageway Residence of Dade County Adult Mental Health, Florida's largest forensic psychiatric inpatient facility, extending supervised treatment to individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses involved in the criminal justice system. Dr. ilan melnick shared information about their truly remarkable success in achieving a zero recidivism among individuals with insanity or schizophrenia diagnoses. I gained firsthand insights into the daily dilemmas of patient care, reinforcing the profound connection between financial decisions and patient outcomes. This experience not only highlighted the importance of aligning our financial strategies with clinical needs but also underscored our commitment to delivering the best available treatments. It was an eye-opening reminder that behind all those numbers we crunch daily, there are real people with unique medical needs, and understanding their journey is key to our success. "I was scared, but I had faith in myself." Melinda Voynova, Senior Chemist at Teva Bulgaria, remembers her first days as an intern at Teva. The beginning was challenging, and she wasn't sure how she would manage her new role and the responsibilities that came with it. However, her self-belief, along with the support of her colleagues and managers, helped her succeed. "I had excellent mentors who gave their all to help me learn" she says. Having supported herself through her chemical studies as a photo model, she then found herself on the other side of the lens, working on some of the world's most cutting-edge laboratory equipment. Eight years later, Melinda is grateful for the opportunities she's had to grow and develop her professional skills. "I would call my work 'a palette of colors'", she says, highlighting her diverse and dynamic nature of her role.
