We know it is hard to visualize what is left in the mixed municipal household #waste that is sent to UBQ Materials to be converted into our bio-based, thermoplastic composite, UBQ™. So, we decided to show you some of the processed waste leftovers we receive. But we only use organic and hard-to-recycle materials. In the image, there is one item that we remove before we start our conversion process. Can you guess which one is? Learn more about UBQ: www.ubqmaterials.com #UBQ #Sustainability

Transforming residual household waste, including all organics, into a climate-positive thermoplastic 🌎
עלינו
UBQ Materials transforms hard-to-recycle household waste, including organics, into a climate-positive material that can be used to replace oil-based plastics and composite materials. By using UBQ™ material, brands and manufacturers can reshape how most things are made by helping divert waste from landfills and incinerators, removing and avoiding GHG emissions, and preserving finite natural resources. For some things there's recycling. For everything else, there's UBQ.

Can you tell the difference? We’ve created our own color- coded trash bins using UBQ™ material at our state-of-the-art facility in Bergen op Zoom, the #Netherlands. Here’s how it works: all materials suitable for producing UBQ™—like organics—are returned to our factory for processing alongside mixed municipal #waste. Metal, glass, drink cartons, bottles and cans are collected separately and sent to proper recycling facilities. The best part? Our trash bins made with UBQ™ remove biogenic content from organic waste, significantly reducing carbon emissions. Do your trash bins contribute to reducing carbon emissions? Every little change count toward achieving sustainability targets! #UBQ #Sustainability

Looking back at #ClimateWeek NYC 2024, it was clear that everyone had a singular goal: addressing the major environmental challenges humanity is confronting and designing a path forward with impactful and practical solutions that can be implemented today. But one topic cut through almost every session and conversation: carbon markets. Jack (Tato) Bigio, Co-CEO and Co-Founder at UBQ Materials, reflected on what he heard and learned during Climate Week and how as carbon markets continue to develop, we can begin laying the foundations for waste-derived carbon credits. Thanks to Waste360 for publishing the article! https://lnkd.in/gv6BMDqw #UBQ #Sustainability #CarbonMarkets #CircularEconomy #ClimateAction

Waste generation and its respective composition is influenced by economic development and income levels. Proximity to food production impacts packaging needs, while higher incomes lead to increased consumption of goods like clothing and personal hygiene products.

Which of UBQ’s sustainability value propositions has the biggest impact? Is it our ability to convert waste into a sustainable material replacement, our zero-impact process, or something else? In our latest UBQ Talks series, we dive into this question with Dr. Glenn Frommer, Ph.D. in Aerospace and a renowned SDG consultant with extensive experience in global transit. Watch the video to discover his insights! Explore our previous UBQ Talks video featuring Gina McCarthy, former Administrator of U.S. EPA, as she discusses how bio-based materials can be adopted faster: https://lnkd.in/e_PkW277 #UBQTalks #UBQ #Sustainability #Waste

Food waste is more than discarding leftovers or expired items; it is a significant global issue. According to the UN Environment Programme’s World Waste Index Report 2024, in 2022, the world wasted 1.05 billion tonnes of food, with households alone responsible for 631 million tonnes—60% of the total. Food loss and waste account for 8-10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the need for action at both the individual and systemic levels. At UBQ, we’re tackling this problem by diverting household #waste from landfills and incinerators and transforming it into a bio-based thermoplastic composite that can be combined with conventional plastics for more sustainable products. The solution is here. Let’s accelerate its adoption and help recover our planet! Read more about the environmental impact of food waste: https://lnkd.in/er4VKB2e #UBQ #sustainability #CircularEconomy

In a recently published article by British Plastics & Rubber, our Global Applications Director, Kurt Kronawittleithner, discusses how using UBQ as an additive in polyolefins can offer comparable mechanical properties and promote a circular economy. The endless availability of UBQ, derived from household waste, provides a sustainable option for formulators looking to meet their performance requirements while achieving sustainability targets. A couple of weeks ago we challenged you to test your knowledge about UBQ™ material by asking which element presented in mixed municipal household waste is removed from our process before we start. The correct answer was stones! We remove all minerals, metals, and glass from the mixed household waste before starting our conversion process. Stones, as solid formations of minerals, can be used for various purposes, so we ensure they are properly recycled. In our UBQ conversion process, we focus on the leftover mixed household waste composed of organic and hard-to-recycle materials, including food scraps, plastic straws, and diapers. Get ready for the next challenge!
