📢 Exciting Expansion Plans for Pogoria Shopping Center by NEPI Rockcastle! Łukasz Lorencki, MRICS, Asset Manager at NEPI Rockcastle, discussed the ambitious expansion plans for the popular Pogoria Shopping Centre in Dąbrowa Górnicza in a recent interview with OmnichannelNews.pl. The key points of the discussion were: 🏙 Why the Expansion? Pogoria has long been a central hub for the local community and tenants. This expansion responds to increasing demand for space and aims to further enrich the customer experience by offering new retail brands, entertainment options, a gym, and a children’s playroom—together adding approximately 4,800 square meters of leasable area. 🌱 A Sustainable Future Pogoria will incorporate advanced renewable energy solutions, including photovoltaic panels and a building management system for optimal energy efficiency as part of NEPI Rockcastle’s commitment to sustainability. 💡 🚧 A Seamless Transformation Construction started in November 2023, with completion expected in early 2026 and the works have been designed to ensure minimal disruption. **UPDATE** 🇵🇱 We are continuing our efforts to support flood-affected areas in Poland. The water has now receded, but the devastation caused will be felt for a long time by local communities and municipalities. It is therefore crucial to provide them with the ongoing aid they need. We have collected essential items and donations from 14 Polish shopping centres in cooperation with the Polish Red Cross, Caritas, local governments and various local organisations. In order to further help the hardest-hit communities, we have decided to donate PLN 215 000 to the accounts of Kłodzko, Głuchołazy, Lądek Zdrój, Bystrzyca Kłodzka and Jelenia Góra. Aid in the form of a financial contribution which will allow for longer-term, targeted assistance. We do not have a day-to-day business presence in this part of the country, but in this critical situation, we are supporting local communities where it is most needed. We encourage all market players, especially companies from our industry, to do the same. #NEPInews: In Business Review, Marius Barbu, Group Asset Director at NEPI Rockcastle, shared an inspiring outlook on the retail real estate market in Romania and Central & Eastern Europe. "In CEE countries like Romania and Poland, people tend to spend more time in shopping centres due to the lack of traditional high streets. This means our shopping centres play a more important role in providing social and community facilities to consumers across the region than is the case in Western Europe, contributing to the 337 million visits to our malls in 2023," said Barbu. NEPI Rockcastle has a development pipeline of c. €817 million across the region and is investing to transform its shopping centers into true community hubs though projects and strategies such as: 👉 A €282 million mixed-use extension of Promenada Mall in Bucharest, set for completion in Q4 2026 👉 Attracting international brands to the region with recent new store openings including Lefties, Rituals and Victoria's Secret 👉 Going green - €34 million of investment into on-site solar power installations across its malls in Romania, the only retail real estate company in CEE with this scale of renewable energy The future of retail is experiential, and NEPI Rockcastle is leading the way in bringing diverse entertainment, dining, and lifestyle experiences to shoppers across the region. #NEPInews: In an interview with Business Insider Polska, Marek Noetzel, Chief Operating Officer of NEPI Rockcastle, discussed the purchase of the Magnolia Park centre in Wrocław: "We acquired the Magnolia shopping centre in Wrocław for EUR 373 million. This is one of the largest transactions in the retail real estate market in Central and Eastern Europe in recent years. The investment aims to increase our portfolio concentration." 🌍 Regarding the company's expansion plans in Poland, he stated: "When it comes to future acquisitions, I always tell investors that each new purchase must be better than the average property in our portfolio—better in terms of quality, location, or market dominance. We certainly have the Silesia area on our radar, and we would like to establish presence in Poznań and Szczecin. Warsaw is definitely a priority for us. We haven't said our last word in the Tricity either. Additionally, there's Rzeszów, and we still see valuable acquisition opportunities in Kraków and Wrocław." 🚀 On further development plans in the CEE region, he added: "We maintain strong interest in Romania and Bulgaria, and we aim to strengthen our position in the Czech Republic." 📈 Noetzel highlighted the favorable market conditions supporting the investment climate: "Across all key parameters—spending per visit, vacancy levels—we are performing better than in 2019, which was our best year before the pandemic. Comparing the first half of this year to the first half of 2023, we've seen higher visitation rates and an 8 percent increase in basket value." 🛍️ When asked whether shopping centres remain relevant, he countered the experts who predicted their demise: "In reality, all commerce is one big ecosystem. When I'm on the tram, I want to browse offerings on my phone. If I see something I like, I still want to go to the mall or retail park to purchase it. If the item isn't available there, I want to order it via an app or directly from the shop, with either home delivery or in-store pickup. And if I'm not satisfied with the item, I want an equally convenient return process. It all comes down to customer convenience, because customers are the ones who rule."
