Reliance Industries & Tata group partner Nvidia for India AI infrastructure Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and the Tata group, two of the largest conglomerates in India, entering into separate partnerships with US technology giant Nvidia to build AI supercomputers.  Jio Platforms, RIL’s digital services arm, announced a partnership with Nvidia on Friday to build a state-of-the-art cloud-based AI computing infrastructure. Nvidia will provide Jio with end-to-end AI supercomputer technologies and frameworks for building the most advanced AI models, Jio said in a statement.   Nvidia is also tying up with the Tata group to deliver AI computing infrastructure and platforms for developing AI solutions. At the Nvidia AI Summit in Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, shared his vision for creating AI infrastructure in India, paralleling the role Reliance Jio played in revolutionizing telecom infrastructure. In a conversation with Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of Nvidia, Ambani highlighted the vast potential for AI in India. “We’re establishing AI infrastructure with an initial 1-gigawatt capacity, designed to expand even further at one central location,” he explained. Ambani emphasized the sustainable nature of this initiative, saying, “With green energy resources in place, we won’t rely on external power sources. This scalability will make AI affordable and accessible to everyone, similar to what Jio did for telecommunications.” Huang acknowledged India’s evolution, noting, “India was once known for software exports. In the future, it will be known for exporting AI. I look forward to working with you to position India at the forefront of this industrial revolution.” Ambani went on to explain, “After we drive AI adoption domestically, we’ll expand beyond software, offering AI services globally. India won’t just be known for exporting CEOs to top global companies, but also for exporting AI capabilities to the world.” He further stated, “Our goal is to design AI infrastructure that’s user-friendly, enabling people to access high-quality AI without needing new phones or computers.
