Empowering Youth Through Skills Training: Success Stories of Tippesha and Vittal The Institute of Disability, Rehabilitation & Research (IDRR) at APD, [The Association of People With Disability] has been instrumental in transforming lives by offering skills training that empowers young people to find meaning in life. The journeys of Tippesha N.K. and Vittal are testimonies to the positive impact of APD’s programmes affiliated to the Rehabilitation Council of India, [RCI] Tippesha N.K is a 23-year-old, from Hirekabbar village in Karnataka. Growing up in a rural area, he belongs to a modest family with his father working as a farmer and his mother as a homemaker. Tippesha dreamt of growing in the film industry as a cameraman or joining the Indian Army. His dreams remained dreams for lack of funds and medical fitness. Motivated to build a better future, he joined APD’s Certificate Course in Care Giving, (CCCG) through a friend’s recommendation. With dedication, he excelled in the programme, becoming the National Topper. On 1st October 2024, Tippesha received the National Topper Award from Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, at an event in New Delhi. Vittal, a 21-year-old staying at APD Hostel in Doddagubbi Road, Bangalore, also has started his career journey with APD by enrolling in the Certificate Course in Rehabilitation Therapy, (CCRT). Vittal comes from a family of five, with his father working as an electrician and his mother as a bank employee. Vittal has a deep desire to work in disability or healthcare services, and APD’s training has given him the skills to pursue this path. Like Tippesha, Vittal’s hard work was rewarded as he completed his course and achieved the status of National Topper. He, too, was honoured with the award by union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar on 1st October 2024. These success stories showcase the impact of APD’s training programmes at IDRR in equipping youth with practical skills and guiding them towards fulfilling careers. Through comprehensive support and hands-on training, IDRR empowers students like Tippesha and Vittal from the remotest geographies of Karnataka to overcome barriers and build sustainable futures. Their achievements as National Toppers are evidence to the quality of APD’s programmes and the potential that exists within every individual to live a fulfilling life. Thanks to our donor partners Juniper Net works and Brigade Enterprises for their continued support. #EmpoweringYouth #SkillsForSuccess #IDRRImpact #YouthEmpowerment #DisabilityInclusion #InspiringJourneys #SkillsTraining #InclusiveEducation #BreakingBarriers #NationalTopper #SuccessStories #YouthPotential #FutureReady #SupportFromWithin #BridgingDreams
