Apraava Energy is India's leading integrated energy solutions provider, jointly owned by the CLP Group —one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) —a global investment group. Founded in 2002, Apraava has evolved from being a single-asset company to a forward-looking, climate-conscious organisation. Our portfolio comprises 3,374 MW of installed capacity which includes 1,100+ MW of wind and 250 MW of solar energy projects across seven states, a 1,320 MW coal-fired super critical power plant and two power transmission assets. We have also forayed into Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) business and will install around 4.7 million smart meters in Assam, Gujarat, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh. The company aims to invest in low-carbon growth areas, including renewable energy, power transmission and distribution, as well as other non-generation, customer-focused energy businesses. Apraava Energy is among the handful Indian power sector companies to commit to the SBTi and only the second in the sector to have them validated. We want to create a future that will accelerate India’s clean and green vision. We are committed to building a legacy that our future generations will cherish and nurture.

“Not just allyship, but active allyship,” emphasized Parmesh Shahani, Head - Godrej DEi Lab, during an engaging conversation recently hosted at our Mumbai office. In this thought-provoking session for our employees and contract staff, Parmesh provided a candid perspective on what companies need to do to be truly inclusive 🌈 . He stated, “Several studies reveal that companies that are inclusive and support the queer community do better across the world.” Parmesh urged companies to take meaningful actions for an inclusive workplace, which perfectly resonated with our philosophy of “Energy in action." Parmesh further discussed the growing awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community, highlighting that inclusion has always been a part of Indian culture. He explained the cost of inaction towards inclusion and encouraged everyone to model inclusive behavior. For us at Apraava, this conversation sparked and heightened our awareness of the community's needs and issues. Parmesh envisions a world where the queer community doesn’t just receive crumbs but enjoys significant pieces of the rainbow cake, just like everyone else. We also extend our gratitude to Anupama Easwaran (She, Her) for moderating such a captivating and enjoyable conversation. #ApraavaEnergy #EnergyInAction #PrideMonth #Inclusion #Allyship #LGBTQIA+

Catch our MD, Rajiv Mishra, at the CII Smart Metering conference tomorrow, where he will join other experts in discussing the adoption of smart meters in India and their pivotal role in achieving energy transition goals. More details below. #ApraavaEnergy #EnergyInAction
Smart Metering: Transforming India’s Power Grid Smart meters are being inducted into India's power infrastructure owing to their ability to improve operational and financial performance of the utilities. As of May 2024, India has sanctioned the installation of 22,22,64,571 smart meters, of which 1,11,92,728 have been installed. Additionally, 52,65,011 DT meters have been sanctioned (with 40,436 installed) and 1,83,316 feeder meters have been sanctioned (with 13,029 installed) (Source: National Smart Grid Mission). The Ministry of Power's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) is playing a pivotal role in driving the induction of smart meters. Launched in 2022, the RDSS is a flagship programme with an outlay of Rs 3,037.58 billion allocated over a five-year period (2021-22 to 2025-26). The program's primary objectives are to: > Reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses to 12-15% > Reduce the average cost of supply-average revenue realised gap to zero by the financial year 2024-25 > Improve the quality, reliability, and affordability of power supply for consumers through a financially sustainable and operationally efficient distribution sector (Source: PIB, Ministry of Power) > It is important to know the best practices in smart metering sector, and the learnings from them. Also to understand the policy and regulatory frameworks and the challenges that come in implementation, join us for the Second CII > Conference on Smart Metering on 2 July 2024.
