#Startups are full of surprises. Last night, our database write IOPS hit its maximum capacity several times, reaching 5000 write IOPS under an average load of 1500 write requests per minute for 6 hours. Read IOPS were ongoing in parallel. This happened while we were doing a POC with a high-traffic website to track website perfromance and speed in real-time Auditzy™ RUM. 😅 As a result, 0.75% of our write requests failed, causing some 5xx errors in the network—what a night! The POC spokesperson reached out right away, and we owned up to it: our database simply got overwhelmed by the write IOPS. 😃 They have understood the gravity of the situation. Now, we're gearing up to try again. Fingers crossed! 🤞 P.S. Now I truly understand why databases are so expensive. 😂 #startups #rum #pagespeed #databases

It’s been a while since I last dived into #CoreWebVitals and #PageSpeed, but with Diwali just around the corner, now’s the perfect time! India's grand festive season is in full swing, and brands are racing to make sure their websites are fast, interactive, and Visually Stable. Let’s check out how two titans of Indian eCommerce—Flipkart and Amazon India—are performing. These giants handle millions of pages and traffic like no tomorrow. For mobile users, speed is everything. Amazon India? They’ve crushed it, keeping load times under 2.50 seconds at the 75th percentile for their entire domain! That's no small feat—hats off to their team. 🎉 Flipkart isn’t far behind, holding strong at 3.20 seconds. 👏 Now, here’s the deal: If your website’s loading times for mobile are stretching beyond 3.5 seconds for the 75th percentile—and you're pulling in at least $100K/month—you might need to rethink your engineering game. 🚨 Don't let a slow site steal your festive thunder. Remember, optimizing for speed and interactivity is never wasted effort. A snappy website means a smooth buying experience—and happier customers. Just ask DaMENSCH, where a 3-second load time boost led to an 18% increase in add-to-cart rates! 💥 You can read the full case study here: https://dub.sh/adz-dam-cs At Auditzy™, we’ve got your back! We monitor your website’s performance in real time as well as in pre-defined lab conditions to make sure what's working and what' not for visitors on your website. We also work side-by-side with your tech team to make sure those optimization efforts hit hard. 🚀 Let’s make speed your competitive edge! 😁

Chrome ends support for First Input Delay (FID), Interaction to Next Paint (INP) is the new chapter 🚀 Back in May, Chrome announced its plan to transition from First Input Delay (FID) to Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and now that shift is complete. With this change, FID is no longer supported in Chrome tools, marking a new chapter in web performance measurement. 🚫 What's Not Changing: 👉 Chromium will continue supporting first-input entries in the PerformanceObserver API, allowing developers who need to measure First Input Delay (FID) in their applications to do so. 🤔 What's Changing: 👉 Availability of FID metric in Chrome performance tools like PageSpeed Insights and the Chrome UX Report (CrUX) and APIs like CrUX API & CrUX History API. 👉 Starting with the September 2024 dataset, which will be published in October 2024, the CrUX BigQuery project will remove the first_input struct from its schema. 👉 The web-vitals.js library will remove the onFID function. Since this is a breaking change, it will be included in the next major release, version 5.0. 👉 The Web Vitals extension will stop reporting FID data across all its surfaces, including the overlay panel and console logs. As Chrome Team officially close the chapter on FID in the Web Vitals program, the focus shifts to INP, marking the beginning of a new era. Developers are now recognizing responsiveness issues that FID couldn't capture. The removal of FID in these tools ensures a smooth transition, encouraging the use of INP as the most effective metric for enhancing interaction performance. #inp #fid #webvitals #corewebvitals #pagespeedinsights #performance #auditzy

How do you effectively load ads on your website without impacting page speed? 🤔 Let's discuss how to balance loading ads with website performance. ✅ Refresh ads without refreshing the page Refreshing ad slots are particularly valuable on pages where users stay longer, such as recipe pages, DIY tutorials, or other content-rich websites. ✅ Structuring your webpage into distinct content blocks Structuring your web page with content blocks for both text, image, and ad content, while also using the CSS content-visibility: property, can significantly improve overall rendering time in modern browsers. ✅ Prioritize important ad slots When used strategically, below-the-fold ads can complement above-the-fold ads, and provide a platform for creative ad formats and contextual relevance. ✅ Lazy load ads where appropriate Lazy loading is a technique that defers loading non-critical resources until they are needed. ✅ Prioritize asynchronous loading Asynchronous loading loads ads independently of the main web page content allowing the page to continue rendering and become interactive without waiting for ads to fully load. ✅ Optimize ad sizes, positions, and formats The size, position, and format of ads can have a significant impact on page speed. Large ad sizes can slow down page load, leading to frustrated users. By using techniques such as asynchronous loading, lazy loading, optimizing ad formats and sizes, leveraging intelligent caching and carefully evaluating ad networks, and header bidding and providers, website owners can successfully navigate the challenges of loading ads without compromising page performance. Building a website first consumer brand? 🚀 Tired of slow page speed? 😕 Go to first comment 🔽 See you there. 👇 #webperformance #ads #corewebvitals #lcp #fcp #cls #auditzy #webmonitoring #performance #gtm #googleads

Struggling with long JavaScript tasks that delay your website's Time to Interactive? 🚀 Long Tasks can monopolize the main thread, causing UI freezes and unresponsive pages, even when they appear loaded. Chrome DevTools offers a powerful visualization tool to help identify these tasks easily. 🤔 What are Long Tasks: Tasks that take longer than 50 ms can hinder user interactions. The RAIL model suggests processing inputs within 50 ms for optimal responsiveness. 🔎 How to Identify Them: Use the Performance panel in DevTools to record a trace of your page. Look for gray bars with red flags indicating Long Tasks. 🟡 Causes: Common culprits include large scripts and third-party scripts. ✅ Optimization Tips: Break down scripts into smaller chunks running under 50 ms, and consider offloading some tasks to service workers. Minimizing Long Tasks is a great way to ensure your users have a delightful experience when they visit your site. PS: If your business relies on your website to drive revenue, it might be time to check out Auditzy™. We’re here to streamline your website performance monitoring and optimisation process.
