About us

Bansa Community Library and Resource Centre is an initiative of Aruna Mithlesh Foundation to cultivate an interest in reading and provide quality books and reading materials to learners from Bansa and 36 surrounding villages. The library is situated near Ram Janki Mandir in Bansa village (District Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh). Since its opening in November 2020, the library has witnessed overwhelming support and participation from learners of all age groups. Apart from attracting readers, it has also become a space for e-learning where volunteers from across India have engaged educational sessions on a variety of subjects. Bansa Community Library imbibes a feeling of empowerment, strength and awareness among the children and the adults through the books that have always been everyone’s friends. The library has always offered a sense of belongingness and inclusivity to all irrespective of gender, class or community. Bansa Community Library provides the means to open doors of opportunity for young people. The main highlight of the library is its vast collection of books that would help young aspirants in preparing for different government examinations and getting onto the jobs they have dreamt of. The library is run by a small team of youngsters from the community – and supported by a larger back-end team of volunteers, teachers, and patrons who work remotely and take care of the library’s requirements.

  • Over two enriching days at our third Fundraising Book Sale hosted at Kunzum Books, 1,924 pre-loved books found new homes, and we proudly raised an impressive ₹2,33,681. This success brings us significantly closer to enhancing our Read Aloud Program at the library, fueling our mission to inspire more young readers. We were delighted to see over 550 wonderful community members join us! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed – from spreading the word, to attending, donating books, and to our fantastic host, Kunzum. Your support has brought us closer to our goal. Thanks to your efforts, we’re excited to channel the funds raised into powering up our Read Aloud program at the library. This will allow us to continue engaging young minds, sparking imaginations, and fostering a love for reading in our community. Our book sale catered to diverse tastes, from classic novels and thrilling mysteries to self-help books and engaging children’s literature. All sold starting from just Rs. 20, ensuring there was a treasure trove for every reader. Moreover it also became a community space to discuss about the work we do on ground. • We had the pleasure of having meetu chawla Ma'am, from Thinkerminds, facilitate a series of read-aloud sessions at our library during the summer break, and her contribution has left a lasting impact on our community. Conducting classes three days a week, she introduced one book per week in a manner that was both engaging and insightful. On the first day, Ma'am would read aloud the selected book, sparking curiosity and interest in our members. The second day became the highlight for many, as she creatively combined science and hands-on activities. Through games, art, and crafts, the members explored the themes of the book in ways that allowed them to connect deeply with the material. These activities were not just fun but also educational, making the stories come alive. Finally, the third day involved thoughtful discussions, where members shared their insights and ideas. Despite English being a second language for many of our members, Meetu Ma'am made the books accessible and engaging, ensuring everyone could participate fully. Her approach, patience, and creativity made the sessions a favorite for all. We are incredibly grateful for her efforts and the joy she brought to our library. Our members are requesting for the classes to be held again and we couldn't be more happy about it! #ThinkermindsByMeetuMam
