NRIs, A poignant image of a beggar child dressed as Lord Shiva, taken by the German Ambassador, went viral, shedding light on a harsh truth: even after 75+ years of independence, India still has over 400,000 beggars (2011 census). Who creates beggars? --Our flawed system. Who sustains them? --We, the people. Over a billion Indians struggle without disposable income. Can we dream of a $5 trillion economy when the rich thrive, and the poor languish? Is this #Atmanirbhar Bharat? --Hardly. Donating to beggars offers fleeting relief, inflating our egos but sustaining the broken system rather than addressing its root causes. Beggars need #empowerment, not #sympathy! ------Beggars Corporation: From Dependency to #Entrepreneurs------ At Beggar’s Corporation, we transform lives by teaching beggars skills to achieve #selfreliance. So far, we’ve empowered 114 individuals, generated ₹3 crores in revenue, and delivered 100% ROI to social investors through our “One Beggar, One Mentor” (OBOM) initiative. Each beggar needs ₹2 lakh (~$2400) to transform their life. To uplift all 500,000 beggars, we require $1.2 billion. Instead of accepting funds from large corporations, we seek individual supporters who are truly committed to social change. ------Why #NRIs Must Act------ In 2024, NRIs sent a record $129.1 billion in remittances. If just 1.87% of this amount is invested over 10 years, India could be begging-free. (considering that now in 2025 we have atleast 500000 Beggars) Responsible NRIs who love our motherland can lead this change, creating visible, lasting impacts. Let us embrace our civilizational value of Shubh Labh (Profit with Purpose) through social entrepreneurship. ------A Vision in Action------ Since joining Beggars Corporation (BC) in May 2023, I’ve been inspired by our mission. Visiting the Banaras head office in January 2024 deepened my involvement. I saw the challenges of building trust and motivating change among beggars, but with patience and commitment, #self-sustainability is not just a dream—it’s a reality. Over two years, BC has proven that change is achievable and #transformative. Spending a week with the passionate BC team and engaging directly with beggars reaffirmed my belief in this movement. Conversations with our visionary CEO, Mr. Chandra Mishra, further inspired me. His ability to articulate our mission is extraordinary. ------Join Me------ Become part Citizens for Begging-Free India(#CBFI) , a #groundbreaking movement shaping history. Together, we can #transform #India, one life at a time. Let’s create a nation of empowered individuals and make a difference. #Togetherwecan #Beggingfreeindia

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞   We often hear about corporate social responsibility, but what if doing good wasn’t just a side project?    What if impact was woven into the very fabric of a company’s business model?   One initiative that stands out is a bold experiment in turning society’s most overlooked individuals—beggars—into financially sustainable entrepreneurs. Beggars Corporation’s model challenges conventional thinking by proving that people who are often seen as dependent on charity can, with the right support, become self-sufficient and even contribute to the economy.   The model works by equipping beggars with skills, tools and small business opportunities instead of just providing short-term aid. Instead of relying on donations, they are given the means to earn, whether through selling everyday essentials, providing small services, or engaging in creative work. From a business perspective, this is not charity—it is 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞.   I believe that profit with purpose is the future of business. More and more companies are realising that they need to create value for both their shareholders and the communities.    What do you think? Look forward to your thoughts in the comments below. 👇   #profitwithpurpose #commercewithconscience #sustainablebusiness #beggars Image credit: Waceke Nduati

Mirchmala: A Beggar Turned #Entrepreneur Last year, I met Mirchmala Ji, a remarkable participant in Beggars Corporation "Bagful of Dreams" initiative. Her story is a testament to #perseverance and #empowerment. Mirchmala's life in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, was filled with challenges. At 35, pregnant and responsible for three children and a disabled husband, she faced immense hardship. Her husband's accident left him unable to work, placing the family’s survival on Mirchmala. Seeking a better future, she moved to Banaras, finding solace at Dashashwamedh Ghat. However, feeding her family led her to beg—a reality she kept hidden from her loved ones. The Turning Point On 17th October 2023, Mirchmala's life changed. Identified and onboarded by Beggars Corporation, she discovered her talent for design and embraced new skills in cutting, stitching, and designing. Her dedication and quick learning led her to become the #Director of the workshop within three months. She not only honed her abilities but also trained other onboarded beggars, embodying #leadership and community spirit. Mirchmala: The #Entrepreneur With newfound confidence, Mirchmala saved diligently and opened her own shop at Dashashwamedh Ghat—the place she once begged. Starting with a modest range of products, her shop grew rapidly. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to expand her business and develop new products. Her shop now boasts over 20 products and operates with a rigorous schedule. She opens her shop at 4 am, works till 10 am, then heads to the office from 10 am to 6 pm. Afterward, she joins her husband at the shop, working until midnight. Her journey from begging to #entrepreneurship is a testament to her #resilience and #determination. A Role Model for All Mirchmala’s story is more than an individual triumph; it exemplifies what can be achieved with the right support and opportunities. Her knowledge of real estate, ability to scale her business, networking skills, and unwavering determination make her a role model. Her transformation is an inspiring story, showcasing the potential within everyone to rise above their circumstances. As Mirchmala continues to grow her business and inspire others, her story serves as a reminder of the importance of empowering those in need. Her journey is a call to action for us all to support initiatives that provide opportunities and foster resilience.

  • Everyone knows how hard it is to get a word of appreciation from parents, relatives and neighbors. For them, you are just the "gaaon ka chhora". But no, our own state capital Lucknow had reserved an advance Holi surprise for us this year. Thank you Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh for finally recognizing our efforts. Team Beggars Corporation needs your support and blessings to create a begging-free society. 🙏🙏

This Women’s Day, let’s celebrate not just women, but the power of resilience, dignity, and opportunity. The incredible women in this video were once forced to beg for survival. Today, they are learning tailoring, working hard, and turning their efforts into something meaningful—proof that true empowerment isn’t about handouts, but about creating livelihoods. India doesn’t need more charity. It needs more opportunities. These women don’t want sympathy; they want a chance. And Beggars Corporation is making that possible. Let’s not just watch—let’s act. Support, share, and be part of a movement that replaces begging with entrepreneurship. Because real change begins when we give people the tools to rewrite their own stories. #WomenEmpowerment #DignityThroughWork #MakeIndiaBeggingFree #SupportEntrepreneurs

Salute to those different women on #WomensDay 🙏

  • There are many wonderful women whose achievements deservingly dominated the International #WomensDay. Let's end the day with a woman at the rock bottom of the pyramid who dared to be the change. She was a single mother begging at the sacred Dashaswamedh Ghat of Banaras. Her son also used to beg during evening Ganga Aarati taking Lord Shiv avatar. She was the FIRST BEGGAR who agreed to quit begging, work and earn with dignity. She was the first beggar who joined #BeggarsCorporation. Her handcarved logo of Beggars Corporation adores the wall of our conference hall even today. The collection of pics below can give you the feel of her path-breaking journey. Now when the International Women's Day is going to end, give a big hand to Kesho alias Rajni Didi, our first beggar-turned-entrepreneur. 👏👏

When you see the line, I see the dots. Talent hunting, team building, purpose alignment, and positioning of the team members are not enough to build a great organization. The key lies in the ability of every team member to lead from the front without micromanagement. I don't believe in gathering an army of followers, but in creating the leaders.  This week, I invested myself in Delhi in building a core team of Beggars Corporation and preparing to take charge of our next project, #BeggingFree #Dehradun. Yesterday we concluded with a 4-hour-long review by experts from marketing to funding and tech to advocacy.  Some of our old associates couldn't join us as it was a working day. But we will meet them now onwards, as it is just the beginning, and we are here to stay.  Don't be a silent spectator. Join us to make India begging-free and create history together.  #BeggingFreeIndia #DontDonateInvest #ProfitWithPurpose #ZeroPoverty #NoHunger #DecentWork Prof. Krishnamurthy V Subramanian Dr Sabine Kapasi Sreevas Sahasranamam Shrijeet Mishra

Making India Begging Free | JNU Delhi

Honored to be Selected for the Begging Free India Fellowship 2025-26! I am thrilled to share that I have been selected for the Begging Free India Fellowship by Beggars Corporation . This initiative is dedicated to creating sustainable solutions to eradicate begging and uplift marginalized communities. It was an amazing experience meeting with Mr. Chandra Mishra (CEO, Beggars Corporation) and Mr. Ashish Gambhir . I gained valuable insights into the vision and mission of Beggars Corporation, its operational framework, upcoming projects, and recent MoUs. Their commitment to social impact and transformative change is truly inspiring! Dehradun District Magistrate Shri Savin Bansal recently signed an MoU with Beggars Corporation for the permanent eradication of begging in the state capital. Understanding the strategic roadmap to achieve this goal was eye-opening, and I am excited to be part of this transformative journey. A huge thank you to the Beggars Corporation and Chandra Mishra Sir for this incredible opportunity. Looking forward to contributing to this mission and working alongside passionate changemakers!
