Honoured with 'Self-Certification' Status, Reinforcing Commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat In alignment with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, BEML LTD. has been awarded the prestigious “Self-Certification” status for its defence equipment by the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Government of India. This certification, presented by Shri RA Govardhana, ADGQA (V&EE), HQ DQAV, to Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director of BEML Ltd., in the presence of DGQA, functional directors of BEML, and Head-Quality, at the BEML’s headquarters. Self-certification is a significant recognition granted by the DDP, delegating the responsibility to the manufacturer to certify the quality of products directly, reflecting a high standard of reliability and sustained quality production. The status underscores BEML’s consistent ability to manufacture defect-free defence products that meet rigorous quality standards. BEML has been awarded a three-year “Self-Certification” covering 842 defense stores, allowing direct delivery without third-party inspections. This certification reflects the Government’s confidence in BEML’s high standards, backed by a Supplier Rating above 90% and ISO 9001:2015 QMS compliance. With a strong legacy since the 1980s, BEML is a vital contributor to India’s defense, producing rocket and missile launchers, #ARRVs, #HighMobilityVehicles, and #UAVs. BEML has achieved 100% indigenization in key platforms like the Pontoon Bridge System, Aircraft Towing Tractor, and more, setting benchmarks in self-reliant manufacturing. Urban Mobility Goes Driverless: BEML showcases at 17th Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo 2024 BEML LTD. proudly participates in the event held in Gandhinagar, showcasing our pioneering advancements in sustainable mobility solutions that are transforming urban transit with cutting-edge innovations. A senior team from BEML, led by Ramesh Koppala, welcomed the CEO of Bangalore Metro Rail Maheshwar Rao at our stall, engaging in discussions and exploring new opportunities in urban mobility solutions. BEML’s team highlighted the driverless coaches incorporated with state-of-the-art automation with sophisticated sensors, communication networks, and control systems that ensures precise navigation and minimizing human error. BEML pioneered India’s metro coach manufacturing by establishing the first facility in 2002 and made history again in 2011 as the first to indigenously design and manufacture metro trains. In 2015, BEML became the nation’s first manufacturer to develop and supply driverless metro cars for DMRC. With the highest number of metro trains produced for Bangalore Metro, BEML has also delivered significant fleets to Delhi Metro, Kolkata Metro, and Mumbai Metro. And with more orders on the horizon, BEML is set to bring its expertise to several emerging metro projects across new cities soon.
