  • Share of self-employed women has increased to 67% in 2023-2! The Periodic Labour Force Survey has shown a striking rise in the number of self-employed women, now comprising 67.4% of employed women compared to 51.9% in 2017-18. This surge is even more notable in rural areas, where the figure has jumped to 73.5%. Such growth is reflective of improved access to essential services like piped drinking water and clean cooking fuel, allowing women more time to participate in the workforce. Additionally, the Labour Force Participation Rate for women rose to 41.7% from 23.3% in 2017-18, marking a significant shift in female involvement in economic activities. This transformation reflects the profound impact of expanded access to basic amenities, enabling rural women to move beyond household duties and contribute to family-run enterprises, agriculture, and other economic endeavours. With fewer hours spent on essential yet unpaid chores, they can now channel their efforts toward productive work that directly benefits their households. The broader implications of this are crucial for Bharat's economic growth. The increased participation of women, particularly in self-employment, boosts household incomes and enhances economic resilience. By being able to engage more in agriculture or small-scale businesses, women are playing a pivotal role in ensuring the sustainability of rural economies. The NDA government has been instrumental in fostering this change through initiatives aimed at improving access to basic amenities and promoting economic inclusion for women. Schemes such as PM Ujjwala Yojana (for clean cooking fuel) and Jal Jeevan Mission (for water accessibility) have been critical in enabling women to pursue self-employment opportunities, contributing to their overall empowerment.

  • Mangal Jyoti Badodia's life journey, filled with struggles and obstacles, mirrors the challenges faced by many in Bharat's remote tribal villages. Growing up, Mangal had limited access to education, forced to travel over 30 km daily on unsafe local transport. Yet, hope arrived when she learned about the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana training at PMKK-Ratlam. The free vocational program gave her not just skills but also the confidence she had always lacked. The opportunity to train under PMKVY allowed her to set new goals, and after completing her training, she secured a stable job with Reliance Smart, earning ₹ 8,500 monthly—an income that helped her lift her family from financial struggles. • For 70 long years, the residents of Jokapath village in Chhattisgarh lived in darkness. Surrounded by mountains and dense forests, commuting and daily life were difficult. • PM Narendra Modi said, "The Jal Jeevan Mission was envisioned to ensure that every Indian has access to clean and safe water." In the heart of Amargarh village, West Bengal, Rakhi Bagdi lived through struggles that defined her resilience. A mother of two, bound by the shackles of caste and poverty, she faced a harsh reality when her village’s only tube well dried up. With her husband barely managing on a daily wage of ₹8,000, the community faced an acute water crisis. But Rakhi wasn’t one to be defeated. Driven by the love for her children and a fierce determination, she led her community to appeal to the panchayat for a solution. Their collective voice was heard, and the Jal Jeevan Mission became their lifeline. The day clean water flowed from taps in every household was a day that marked more than the end of a water crisis—it was a victory for dignity, equality, and hope. What once seemed impossible was now reality. Rakhi’s children no longer had to walk miles to fetch water, freeing them to focus on their education. The transformation brought by the Jal Jeevan Mission is not just about infrastructure; it’s a story of resilience and the power of collective action. It’s a reminder that when given the right resources, even the most marginalised communities can rise above discrimination and hardship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision has been instrumental in ensuring that the Jal Jeevan Mission reaches every corner of Bharat. His leadership has empowered millions like Rakhi, turning the simple act of providing water into a force of social justice, equality, and opportunity for all. This is more than a policy—it’s a revolution in dignity, health, and empowerment.
