Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death in India today. Unlike in many Western nations, India’s CVD burden disproportionately affects younger populations, with 45% of CVD deaths occurring in individuals aged 40 to 69. With risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, tobacco use, and rising obesity rates, India’s urban population is highly susceptible to heart disease. Today, around 1.28 billion adults aged 30-79 are living with hypertension, yet many remain undiagnosed and untreated. In addition, unhealthy dietary habits, especially in urban India, and limited access to quality healthcare are worsening the crisis. The massive economic cost of CVDs is also of concern. The high out-of-pocket expenses for treatment affect productivity and are a serious financial strain on families. On World Heart Day, BioAngels recognises the critical need for innovative solutions to combat heart disease in India. By supporting startups focused on preventive care, early diagnosis, and affordable treatment options, we aim to foster innovations that will reduce the CVD burden. If you are an entrepreneur with a vision to improve heart health in India, let’s collaborate! On World Alzheimer’s Day, let’s join hands to raise awareness, support research, and advocate for the needs of those living with Alzheimer's in India. With the growing number of elderly people in India, Alzheimer's disease is emerging as a major health challenge. As the most common form of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease constitutes 75% of all dementia cases, creating an urgent need for public health initiatives and caregiver support. The burden is not just on patients, but on their loved ones too, as most of the care is provided by family members. India still faces critical gaps in terms of awareness, diagnosis, and treatment options for this neurodegenerative disease. While major cities offer limited care services for Alzheimer’s patients, these are expensive and remain inaccessible to most. Alzheimer’s-related deaths in India have increased fivefold over the past three decades, making it vital to drive more investment into research and develop effective care programmes. At BioAngels, we are dedicated to advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s through research, innovation, and collaboration. We help entrepreneurs develop groundbreaking treatments, expand access to care, and drive global efforts to combat the disease. If you’re a startup focused on curing Alzheimer's or enhancing care, BioAngels wants to hear from you! Visit www.bioangels.vc/contact/ to explore potential collaborations and help improve the lives of people affected by Alzheimer's. #WorldAlzheimersDay #BioAngels #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaCare #HealthInnovation #EndAlzheimers
