𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 Vector Pursuit is a geometric path-tracking algorithm that considers both the position and orientation of a path when tracking it. It is capable of providing a high degree of accuracy and relatively fast speeds while being computationally light and very simple to deploy. Black Coffee Robotics is open-sourcing a ROS2 package that implements the Vector Pursuit algorithm. The package is released as a plug and play Nav2 plugin - allowing it to be used with mobile robots and can be easily integrated into ROS2 based systems. The software is heavily documented and parametrized and comes with a sample configuration and launch file to get you started quickly. If you're currently using a Pure Pursuit controller, you might want to consider switching to Vector Pursuit for better tracking performance. If you're using DWB/DWA, you might consider switching to Vector Pursuit for better performance and vastly lower computational requirements. The package is available on our GitHub repository, and we welcome contributions and feedback from the community!
