Today, we commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda. His powerful slogan—“Abua raj ete jana, maharani raj tundu jana" ("Let the kingdom of the queen end and our kingdom be established”)—– is still remembered today. On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, we honour his legacy by celebrating his invaluable contributions and reaffirming our commitment to preserving the dignity and heritage of our tribal communities. #JanjatiyaGauravDivas #BirsaMunda150 #BirsaMunda #TribalIndia

Did you know that the annual collection of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) in the country is valued at around INR 20,000 crore (approximately USD 2.7 billion)? Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) grow naturally in forests and can be harvested without cutting down trees. In various project areas across diverse geographies, we support NTFP-based livelihoods by working to enhance local capacities in the sustainable collection, processing, and marketing of NTFPs, ensuring that communities receive fair returns. #NTFP #ForestProducts #SustainableLivelihood

We were at Viksit Bharat@2047 for Scheduled Tribes—a vibrant event hosted by the Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat! Our Program Lead, Ms Sireesha Baddukonda, moderated an insightful session on livelihoods, while Mr Manas Mandal, Program Officer for the Eastern Zone, presented on ‘Livelihoods-Partnership Models’, showcasing BRLF’s approach to large-scale project implementation. This platform provided a valuable opportunity to spotlight our work, connect with like-minded organisations and individuals and explore new avenues to support sustainable livelihoods for tribal communities. #ViksitBharat2047 #TribalDevelopment #RuralDevelopment #SustainableLivelihoods

Taibitha Badlari, a skilled weaver from Kapur Pura in Udalguri, Assam has been weaving by hand for 26 years. Recently, with the support of our partner the ant (the action northeast trust), she invested Rs. 7,000 in a jacquard machine, transforming the way she works. Before using the jacquard machine, she could produce 13 pieces a month, earning around Rs. 19,500. Now, she produces 25 pieces monthly with the machine, doubling her income to around Rs. 37,500. Combining tradition with technology creates new opportunities for women weavers to succeed, with people like Tabitha making the most out of it. Empowering such weavers is a key focus of the #DWIMU project in Assam's Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). #Handlooms #Weaving #WomenEntrepreneurs #SustainableLivelihood
