I recently had the privilege of attending the 4𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 conference, hosted by CFA Society India, and it was an enriching experience. The day was packed with insightful discussions, wisdom from industry experts, and networking opportunities that added immense value.
𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮, Managing Partner at True North Co, was particularly inspiring. As someone who carved his path in private equity without the traditional IIM/IIT background, he emphasized the importance of doing business "the right way" and shared some fascinating stories of his successes and misses. His advice to focus on inputs rather than outputs resonated deeply with me.
𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶, former CIO of Morgan Stanley 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, provided a masterclass on global investing, reflecting on his tenure at Morgan Stanley, where he spearheaded international investments in India. His thoughts on managing large portfolios and seizing opportunities in emerging markets were a major highlight.
Vijay Kedia, Managing Director of Kedia Capital Services Private Limited, his story of starting with zero capital and achieving exponential returns over the last 15-20 years was incredibly motivating. He discussed the virtues of patience and courage in investing, underlining that success often comes with perseverance.
Pankaj Tibrewal, former Senior Fund Manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, rounded off the day with his insights on equity fund management, focusing on navigating market cycles with knowledge and resilience.
Overall, it was a fantastic event that provided practical wisdom and new perspectives on finance and investment. Looking forward to applying these lessons in my own journey!
