We are at Urban Mobility India where ITDP - India organised an insightful discussion on "Building 15-minute cities: A pathway to sustainable urban mobility" Our Co-Founder and Director, Priya Singh spoke about how cities cannot be sustainable unless people take public transport by default, be it students, or the elderly. In order to make this happen, we need digitisation of buses. Increasing reliability through live tracking is the need of the hour. Key takeaways from the session: ✨City planners should consider land use, transit and other key aspects through a people-oriented lens. ✨The next 20-30 years are crucial for cities to keep up with the aspirations of the people migrating from rural to urban areas. ✨A 15-minute city is all about making a neighborhood self-sustaining where one can live, work and have access to essential needs at just 15 minutes distance. ✨What we're lacking today is not the intent to cycle or walk but the infrastructure that allows people to do so comfortably and seamlessly. Day 2 at the Urban Mobility India Conference 2024 | We joined the roundtable to discuss 'Leveraging DPI framework for e-mobility' moderated by Pawan Mulukutla. Our CEO Mohit Dubey spoke about how companies like Chalo can elevate DPI to build upon their offerings and scale across various categories of cities. Key takeaways from the session: 🎯 There is a need for a system to provide exchange and access to data in a transparent and interoperable manner. 🎯 Digital ecosystem building in identity and payments is an India-first approach. 🎯 There is a need to simplify and standardise it so that it is replicable. 🎯 We need to look at DPI for mobility as a whole, instead of just e-buses. 🎯 Success of electric buses depends on us changing the infrastructure. The conversation highlighted the need to prioritize buses in the context of urban mobility planning and implementation. As the chairperson Mohinder Singh, Transport Consultant, rightly said, in reimagining the urban mobility system, the humble bus will play a very important role and hence needs more attention than any other mode of transport.
